If this was metered off camera, then its god damn impressive!

You are right! It was BBB :-). I also took one with the Otf metering but it did not work well 'cos it was quite dark in the center frame so the sky and restaurant light a bit overexposed.

can anyone enlighten this dinosaur what 'BBB' means?:dunno:

I thought was Buy buy buy...:embrass:

But could not find that link of it lolx...

It means B mode, bro.

Was guessing it was Bow Bow Bow (Kowtow)cos that was impressive exposure for film!

Wow! How did you know how long an exposure to take?

...guess almost same as DSLR in B mode.
this was taken with LX film SLR during 2010 outing to Helix Bridge. did not bring tripod, so the shaky image.:bsmilie:
it was about 4 to 5 secs exposure time.

always good to have the dslr handy to take a meter reading from... :-)

that's true.
you need it only once to obtain the right exposure time & f-stop..
many years b4 DSLR, i took fireworks on film, after few attempts on the exposure time then got is right.

Just to keep this thread alive

I sometimes regret not getting the Pentax 67 or 645 as the life like rendition on MF like this just makes me think of Pentax 645D.
180mm lens indoors is not even doable on APS-C and FF 135format, but 67 does it with room to spare.

chiif is selling bessa 667

for format bigger than 645, i think those TLRs are good enough, and they're small. If you're not comfortable with waist level finder, you can always install kiev 66 eye level finder via adapter

Adapter Hasselblad und Kiev Prismen auf Rolleiflex TLR

on the right hand (right film and right scanner too), 645 produce awesome pics: http://josevillablog.com/ (contax 645 + zeiss lens)

For now, RB67 is hard to beat for me.
The bellows focusing gives the advantage of very close focusing.

But the Bessa 667 is so nice and compact of a 67.

TLRs haven't worked out that great for me. Maybe its because I don't have one of those legendary Rolleiflex with f2.8 lenses.
I can live with the fixed lens, but their pretty poor minimum focus distance make me rank them below a system camera like RB67, Pentax 645, 67 or Mamyia C220, C330.
They are nice, not too heavy and rather compact/small for medium format of course, but just hard to do head and shoulders shots and more suited for head to waist shots; certainly lots of wasted space for children shots; no close up shots of still life too.

Max apertures are also too small imho. These are usually f3.5. Stopped down 1 stop for sharpness, and DOF control is not so much anymore (esp. coupled with longish min. focus distance).
Totally different story for those Rolleiflex f2.8 ones, which often times can be shot from wide open with relatively good sharpness or even stopped down just a bit while still retaining good shallow DOF control.

They are all damn, beautiful cameras of course. :)
I think I'm crazy to wish someone makes a DTLR :D

yes, they're damn beautiful. i'm still craving for xpan/widelux/ETRS/i135w, but they're expensive :bheart:
hope, they won't stop producing film. kodak

btw did you use flash for the kids portraits? I guess you did since it's ektar 100 :bsmilie:

I have found my usage niche use for MF film, and that is for shots that count.
DOF control like no other, tonal graduation and apparent sharpness that is different from digital and burning film ($$$) only on things that matter to me, so for me portraits are the thing I want to do on MF film.

I think someone will continue making Kodak film even if Kodak is gone. Maybe at 'niche' prices though. I have enough to last me 2-3 yrs for my slow shooting rate. I'm more worried about finding places to develop color film in 3-4yrs time.

Landscape, streets suits digital very well with is no-cost, pure sharpness and PP meldability

Yes, have to use flash indoors with ISO160 film.

I was quite lucky to get a fully functional Rolleiflex F 2.8 Planar at a reasonable price but the cost of film, development and scanning is killing me. It is very sharp even at wide open 2.8 but difficult to nail the focus.
A shot at 2.8
