Yesterday Cathay called me up asking if I want X-Pro. It should be out later this week or next. But I got it from the IT show.. cant wait though, going to bring it for travel this weekend! :D

my personal impression is that the image produced by the 18mm lens isn't any sharper or as sharp as the x100's.

I find the 18mm soft on the corners which is a disappointment to me. Wouldn't mind paying more for a sharper lens.

not only corners. even the focused area also not very sharp. i don;t wanna join the pixel peeping camp but so far the posted images by the 18mm isn't quite impressive which are mostly already downsized.

the camera is capable for sure, but only when coupled with capable lens. shall see how the upcoming 23mm performs.

Honestly I don't really peep much but the softness is pretty glaring without blowing up to 100%. And this is with images at f2.8.

agreed. so far the only photo which i pixel peeped for the X-pro1 + 18mm is taken by CJ in his flickr and the train station photos by some other websites. The rest of the posted downsized images all disappoints me too. the 35mm is different story.

I have spent the last 5-6 days since the IT fair playing with the camera and a 35mm lens and am loving it. Loving it enough to sell off my much of my Nikon kit to a nice gentleman actually - a bit sad after 8 years, four Nikon bodies and many lenses.

But I think the Fujifilm premium mirrorless road is THE way to the future. It is not the perfect camera yet, the AF in lowlight needs a bit more work and I did find myself missing the razor-fast AF on say the Nikon D7000, but it is just so easy and fun to shoot with, so much lighter than my old kit, and the IQ is so amazingly good even at ISO3200 that I cannot seem myself using any other camera on the market now. Can't wait for the other lenses to be launched. Hope they are as good.

Can share your 5-6 days of photos ?

Sure. Will post some when I get back home tonight.

This is my skim review for you guys to read. As for 18mm, even by seeing the samples online you can see the objects did not pop up as much. There's only so much a lens can bend to have corner to corner sharpness. Even the 17mm MFT pancake is not perfect too. Generally the 18mm is still performing reasonably well, but well enough to command the price is a matter only the buyer can decide. But for all purposes with regards to 18mm, it is really punching above its rank as compared to more expensive 18mm DSLR lens.

I am not trying to defend. I am trying to make it a balance view of things.

As for 35 and 60mm there are worth more than the dollars you have to fork out. Now I just need that 24mm to make me seriously consider the system.

Oh yes, my blog.

Hi, Looks like ACS Auditorium at Dover Road.

Generally good focusing so I guess you have nailed it which is a good thing.

I personally think the pictures are under exposed by a stop. Are you on AE Multi?

Yup - that is the ACS audi. I am on AE multi, but I generally dialed the exposure by 1/3. I thought the pictures looked a bit too bright on the LCD and then on my Macbook Air.

.....edited. Posted wrong place.

I thought I posted a message during the day...anyhows...

Guys, how do you do post processing on the raw files now? I'm using a Mac and the inbuilt software does not support Lion yet, nor is there any Adobe support as of now...

Purely JPGs still?

You can still shoot raw but have to use RAW File converter by SILKYPIX. For now, I'm shooting JPGs which is doing very well too. Still can do post processing. :)
