Fujifilm X-Pro1

I've one dust speck in my viewfinder already. Crap. So fast.
Can be seen only on EVF mode.

The X-Pro1 doesn't seem to be designed with a case in mind because of the positioning of the focus mode switch.
I'm using it without case.

I've also scratch the metal bit below the LCD, thankfully I've screen protector. Crap x2.

Went shooting with the camera tonight. AF could lock but much slower. Also moving while focusing is almost impossible :( .
Hopefully when we use manual lenses, maunaul focusing can be done with the EVF...

However must add that high iso was really good.
The EVF is so bloody slow that it is nearly impossible to shoot at the "right moment".

i thought someone mention the AF speed will be faster if disable power save mode. i dun own a x-pro1 but good for you to try. =)

The AF speed is fast enough for use. My concern is the EVF refresh. In some cases, when I half cork the camera ready to shoot, the EVF slows to a crawl and the image lags horribly. Sean Reid, who is doing a rolling review, makes a similar point about the EVF having a horrendous refresh rate.

Fixable in future firmware upgrade i believe.

Assuming that the sensor's output bandwidth hasn't been maxed out.

However i believe its software controlling the refresh rate of the lcd in evf. I may be wrong. As i said i dun own the xpro1 but its a good cam and hopefully such problem could be solved.

I like the output from the cam, but the implementation and handling has to be a lot better.

This is what everyone said about x100 firmware, haha wishful thinking. More like Fuji will release 1 or 2 updates to iron out the bugs, but will keep interface improvements and such for the X-pro 2 :P

Actually refresh rate under good light is very good, but when the light drops, so does the refresh rate.

Could be due to the higher sensitivity causing the refresh rate to drop ...

Question: which VF are you using for the majority of your shooting? And any reasons for favoring one VF over the other?
i.e. OVF - you like the rangefinder-style view for shooting streets

EVF - the information matters and display lines are a must for me all the time =)

EVF only when shooting close subjects.

just now i read something on the dpreview forums about changing the size of the af focus frame so i dug into the manual to find out how this works... apparently this feature was also there for x100 (didnt know about it so never tried it on that cam)

When framing pictures in the electronic viewfinder or LCD monitor, you can choose the size of the focus frame for S by pressing the AF button and rotating the command dial left or right. Rotate the dial left to reduce the frame by up to 50%, right to enlarge it by up to 150%, or press the center of the dial to restore the frame to its original size. Press the AF button again to put the setting into effect.

not sure if it contributes to faster af/faster acquisition of focus if you set it to a smaller area... must try one of these days with the 60mm where af really lags that of the 35mm

Speed should be the same, just that the accuracy might improve.

Imagine the box covering a face and background, there's a chance it will focus on background. If the box is made smaller to cover just the face, less likely to focus on background. The box size can't be changed in X-Pro1 OVF, unfortunately.

you're right, i didn't notice any difference in af speed with the smaller focus frame and oso don't work on ovf.
