If resale prices are anything to go by, then any older DSLR would be "disasters" by your definition ya? Canon 10D, 20D, Nikon D70... all terrible and nasty disasters. But didn't you say the S2pro is the only Fuji worth buying?

What about performance, I don't quite understand and would appreciate if you could expand on your one liner.

hmmm...could be nonsenscical one-liner typed out out of disappointment with fujifilm's latest news

btw S2 still served me well

tried the S3 when it came almost bite the bullet but increase DR does not warrant that price, at least to me.

u're not alone.

S5 is more like it but the price is the main factor.

Price is the deciding factor. Even if the sensor is S3's, it is now having the D200 body (rigid, weather-resistant, large LCD, vert grip option with AAs), uses newer flash TTL, has 1/250 flash sync, and able to use older Nikon lens. Say D200 is about $2200 by next year, and giving Fuji about $1000, the S5 should come to about $3200. Buy a new flash (SB800) at $500 and the vertical grip $200, some more batteries $100, getting the S5 will mean $4000. Start saving now.

No doubt 10MP will be great for cropping and digital works, but even the jpegs are hefty at about 4MB each. 6MP is about great for 4R to 8R. I have been quite please (and so have my clients) with the S2pro's 10"x15" prints, the S5 should not be worse. Write speed and rapid fire will be welcomed. Fast focus is certainly great.

If Fuji plays this well enough, they may just up the sensor to an 8MP SR Pro at launch next year, and THAT will be GREAT. Remember, everything presented these few day are stamped "Prelim". :)

 can't wait for the price. highly likely goin to get one for my favourite landscape and B/W.

Mechanically and body electronics, the cam is a D200. That means that the shutter, fps, flash, lens mount and power are all Nikon and GREAT. But the imaging and capture is Fuji. This is just like the F60-S1pro, F80-S2/S3pro. So the actual fps is dependent on the read/write/buffer that Fuji is offering. Plus, Fuji's processing is much more than your typical 'other-brand'. The SuperCCD SR needs to combine the S and R pixels, interpolate the Bayer pattern, up-res to double the sensor res, and then down again (depending on settings). Normal sensors only need to interpolate the Bayer pattern. The image processor chip is probably the biggest bottle neck.

I really welcome the D200 strong body with good focus and plenty of shooting features (e.g. mirror lock-up) and plenty of buttons.

i wonder if the battery grip for the D200 will fit the S5pro?? :o

hmmmm....interesting.....

well...i tink for what i've seen the s5 is offering so far...i dont mind dumping up to 4k for the body....

at most S$3k from me. anything more and i might just wait for D3.

who knows, like what yowch said, it could become a 8X8mp or 10X10mp DSLR?:dunno:

watch this clip!

S5Pro!!!

The guy said that the Real Photo Technology in the S5 was borrowed from its PnS siblings but actually it's the opposite. Real Photo Technology came from the S3 and was borrowed by its PnS siblings.

Hmmm....has anyone wondered if Fujifilm should release another DSLR with a SuperCCD HR sensor?

Years back Fujifilm didn't use its HR sensor in its DSLRs because the technology was not ripe yet and indeed the image quality of the HR sensors then very rather poor especially since they had a high lowest sensitivity setting and not exactly low noise performance.

But now that the sensor technlogy of the HR is so good, with low noise and high resolution, Fuji could probably put it into a DSLR. And I think it would be best if the sensor had the highest megapixel count on the market so that people can justify buying it at a very high price(since it would above the competiton).

Is this a good idea?

i tink it really boils down to fuji's marketing objective and their target market of sales....

to produce sth ard the range of the 1 series would mean that they prob have to pour in alot of money in targeting the pro's at that price range....but a more mid priced camera can be marketed at a more general public looking for upgrades imho..

:D

ya but do you think it would benefit the average consumer? I don't know the maths but if you put a upsize the PnS sensor and slap it into the DSLR format, that would give you a LOT of pixels right? 30+ meg?

Other than looking nice on paper, would a person want a 30megapixel file shooting at 0.5 fps.. or something.

if it hit 4k, 4get it. . . .

 S$4K?

get another D200 + SB800.:bsmilie:

if it is 4k, I rather get a 400D with 17-55 IS lens.
