S5 is targeting at professional. But wont Fuji release a consumer dSLR?

unlikely.

FujiFilm's DSLRs are a rather niche lot, serving a rather niche group of users.

Wow, given fujifilm's strategy, it will be hard to earn amateur's money, especially mine:bigeyes:

don't think they are interested in the amateur market.

their cameras do not allow that, at least the pricing. :bsmilie:

I am a real amateur Fuji DSLR user. OK I confess that I did make quite some bucks off the camera, but nothing near those pro wedding guys make in a month what I made in my whole 2 years and 2 months with the S2pro.

In that case, in the long future, i must find wedding photographer armed with fuji S3/S5 pro liao.

y so?

there're many others using Canon and Nikon.

yet to come across one using Oly, pentax or Sony.
prob due to smaller market share.

Dunno if this has been posted before but it's a brief videoblog on the Sigma SD14 and Fuji S5 pro by the creators of Luminous Landscape.

Check it out here.

They were obviously not impressed by the camera at this point in time but access to it was restricted and only sample prints were available for viewing.

i rate mike reichman as highly as my idol, ***.

'nuff said.:bsmilie:

threads merged as both are based on the yet to be released S5Pro.

How come fuji dun release a canon mount dslr?:dunno:

coz the camera is designed based on a nikon body?

How come fuji dun release a canon mount dslr?:dunno:

Because Canon doesn't want to share the mount.

The Kodak DSLR Canon mount is not provided by Canon, it is a clone by Koday, just to make use of Canon lenses. Lens info, metering, etc is processed by Koday software. Similar to Tamron, Tokina and Sigma manufacturing Canon-compatible lens.

The Fuji DSLR up until now uses Nikon in the whole mechanical system (including focusing and metering). Technically, only the sensor and image processing is Fuji.

from the email of Scott Tallyn... more news on the S5Pro.

I recently attended the Photo Plus Show in New York this past week
and had a chance to see the latest prototype of the Fuji S5 Finepix PRO camera.

The question that everyone wants to know: "What is the price?"
Unfortunately pricing will not be established till later this month,
but rest assured that the MOMENT we have an official confirmed price
we will launch a private e-mail to all of our S5 Pre-sign up members!

My First Impressions of the Body are:

* A completely new robust construction; A definite improvement over the S2 & S3!

* The menus have been completely redesigned to make them user friendly and easy to navigate.

* The new, larger LCD screen and the graphic displays are very easy to read under all lighting conditions.

* The power source is a new proprietary Fuji Li-Ion battery, similar in shape to Nikon’s EN-EL3e, but in fact shorter.

* Fuji is claiming the captures per charge to be greatly improved over previous Fuji models.

Im kinda much concern on focusing...

hmmmz...so will it be able to use the mb-d200 since the battery is different? hmmz....

The way I see the battery issue, it is purposely smaller so that the battery slot is shorter. If that's the case, the D200 vert-grip will not be able to fit at all, then you'll be buying either a Fuji vert-grip or use no grip at all.

Probably a restraining order from Nikon to ensure competitiveness of the D200 having a vert-grip option.

As for me, I don't need the vert-grip, but I'll rather have the 6 AA battery option. No worry, some nice DIY engineer will come up with a solution within days of the camera's release. China, Taiwan and Hong Kong enthusiasts as really enthusiasts!

im just wondering, why does'nt nikon buy the sensor technology from fuji instead of fuji buying the d200 body from nikon. nikon would totally kick canon's ass if they used fuji sensors. (not saying that the sony sensors are bad tho hehe)

i like the idea of the s5pro but ... it would be tons better if the cam had a nikon logo instead of a fuji one.
