hmm, think it's not true. just dont use the auto mode... the auto mode tends to increase the ISO, making the pictures grainy.. use manual mode with tripod instead. :)

yups...
mount faber photo: 3" f3.5
KL photo: 1" F3.5

i dont have the details for the 3rd picture anymore..

did u use 4 star filter?

I think the S5700 is able to produce stars by default without any filter. I just got my first several shots outdoor at night but alas lost all my images with the filmsy xD interface. My old Sony DSC had never failed in writing data and Sony's image file transfer interface with MS and pro cards never gave me problem!

I have faith in Fujifilm and i just hope its just some bad xD card or camera unit i got my hands on

Losing all the shots you get for a night is not something to be proud of:angry:

Your third picture was :
shutter speed : 1/4
Aperture : F/3.5
ISO : 100

If you want very strong distinct star effect, just use a small aperture like F/8-F/11 on a prosumer camera like S5700.

Between F/6-F/8, you still get quite a distinctive star effect on strong light source.

In the picture earlier, the star effect wasn't distinct and I guess it's probably shot with an aperture between F/3.5-F/5.

(p.s. I have a couple of similar pictures to show the difference in star effect between F/2.8 and F/8 on a strong light source in night shots. If you want to see, let me know. They were taken by S6500fd but the effect is similar for S5700).

any S5700 users here has tried using a wide angle lens on it?

pics are not bad lah. dun think i am able to take such nice pics loh. The 1st pic maybe u can up the ISO to 100 or 200 to make it brighter; the 2nd pic maybe u can make the lens aperature bigger and the exposure time longer to make the pic brighter.

The above r juz my noobie views. Correct me if i am wrong. :)

whoa! wad a clean pic of the orange-red moon! out of extreme curiosity, may i know where u took it? =]

hi auratus :D may i know what is the setting to get this type of nice shot , do u need any lens?

my picture of the moon is a ball of light :(

i`m abit upset about it .. i take alot of shots still a ball of light hahaha

Sorry for the late reply, I took it just outside my home with a tripod. I use the "firework" setting and 2 sec delay shot. Only use a UV filter.

I trying to get a close up filter for Macro shot and recommendation and where to get?

Thanks.
