think for the 2 night shots... if u try to compose the whole building into the frame and use tripod(I think u shot handheld), might be better. My 1 cent worth of opinion :think:

Bro, shutter speed down to 3s cannot handhold.. must use tripod or place on something solid. Just curious.. why exp comp -0.7?? Perhaps not bringing it down you can shoot at a faster shutter speed?

Thanks for your comments... no wonder when i do anything below 3, the image comes off horrifying..

hmm.. i'm also not sure how come i tune the exp comp to -0.7.. was just TnE (trial and error) on it....so which is the prefered exposure that i should leave it at when shooting night shots? Just to confirm that, which is / are the pics that you are commenting? the cathay one or both?

Yup, you are right.. i shot handheld..cos was a bit sian from work so decided to fiddle around with the cam... especially for night shots, cos am going to HK soon.. and you know how fansinating their neon signboards are.. so wants to capture the best back here....it's something that cant be found here...

as for composing the building into the frame and tripod, will try that out later this evening too...

just needs more practice i think..

The last pic was the one I'd mentioned. Even the Cathay one is still too slow for handheld at 1/12s.. unless you were bracing yourself again an object + super steady hands :thumbsup:

I am also a noob and learning. But as for the neg exp comp, I'd do that only if I intend to have a slow shutter speed (Tv) while reducing over exposure.

My previous comment was wrong :kok: neg exp comp does increase shutter speed.

When u go HK, the city at night is way brighter than our Cathay. If you visit the "mountain top" at night the night view down at the city is really cool. Remember to bring your tripod or maybe buy one from there.

erm, anyway, what time & where for sunday's photo gathering? how long does it last? (Cause got to work nxt day) for e course conducted by Cecil, any repeat cause I can't make it on sat. sorry if i talk too much :bsmilie:

wasn't bracing myself against naything.. and was hoping that my big fat hands can steady the cam ;P, so obviously it didnt work....hmm, was given the tripod when i bought the cam, so will bring it out to use for tonight..

Last time when I bought Canon at least got a free mini tripod..

yup..when i bought canon also give free mini tripod.. when i bought fuji , they told me got free tripod, camera bag, 2 pcs 2GB card, card reader and screen protector.. initially tot the tripod was a mini one.. then who knows it's the big one..

Jay, where u buy the camera? I got the Fuji bag, 4x2000:thumbsd: AA + charger, 2GB card and screen protector for free. Was told the tripod and card reader only give to buyers of compacts and S8000fd not counted.
