to me, i'm using prosumer as a try out before i brace myself for a DSLR.. i feel that prosumer will be a good learning camera for me.. as i can learn the features of the A, P, M, etc... no point i spend so much on a DSLR / SLR then i realised that i take ages to master the camera.. maybe by then better features and models are out liao..
however, it's to each its own lah.
ta's why i'm a newbie mah ;pThe second shot is nice but the other dinner shots OOF liao leh...
sure, as long as i dun jam up e space here.BTW, can post bigger pics riiiiight? My 老花眼can't see too clear ;p
since we're talking bout lenses... i did ask e sales guy ifnvm, everyone improves as they shoot. Ask u bros something, do u find it fortunate or unfortunate S8000/S8100 cant equip w other lenses like other prosumers? Just curious..
suck? actually i'm kinda impressed tat with 15 mins i can use e battery again... cause i believe how fast e battery goes flat is depend on how often u use flash, how long u keep camera on, how often u view e pics etc etc. oh but must be same brand of battery issit?I got the rechargeable batteries and a charger too.. but they suck big time. Sigh... Stupid 15 minute quick charge, use for less than 50 shots flat liao.
wah putting it to practical is another story loh....what u say makes sense....I hear of friends wanting to buy DSLRs and when I ask them about shooting techniques..they tell me they dunno, anyway got AUTO mode. Prosumers are gd manual cams tt lets u grasp the "relationship" of aperture, shutter and ISO b4 gg into DSLRs.
I am ok if meeting for sunday morning shoot. How about t3r3nc3 and hotterdog? Jaybaokong...u ok?
Well, to be honest I had intended to get the Canon S5 IS initially. I have the S1 and it was a fun camera. But for some reason Canon isn't updating the the series. May be no more S6?? I dunno but at the price it's going now, if I buy then suddenly Canon released S6 then I'll be bang balls.
I was choosing between Oly SP570 UZ and this S8000fd. Went for the Fuji instead as I normally dun like uncommon accessories such proprietary batteries and stuff.. in Oly's case, it's the xD card.
I think I type until out of scope already. Anyhoo... I am quite happy with this cam. Given the range of 27mm to 486mm, it is very useful. Don't think there will be a strong need for other lenses, even if it is possible to use.
On a side note, I am contemplating to get a dSLR. Haven't confirm yet.
need to @@ time & place leh. if eg 8am changi there's no
way i'll make it. not trying to be picky or funny here, but like i told parampita
it won't be nice if i promise this promise that, in e end can't deliver, then
it's not a gd way to start here.:sweat:
can I ask what settings u use? w or w/o tripod?
hey bro! same as me.. i was in fact comtemplating between Canon S5is and this cam.. but then to me, wide angle is very important cos i normally will take my department group photos and therefore i need it to be as wide as possible.. and also same reason as you...canon not updating it.. if come out with S6, sure bang one..
went for fuji because of its colours and also like what you mentioned, dont really like proprietary batteries and stuff

all without tripod..... cos was trying out whether is there any slight chance that i can take good quality pictures without tripod, but with the settings.. ( i know i'm being ambitious here, and i dont have steady hands)...
Night shoots must have tripod cos the ISO must be kept low and the shutter speed is not fast. At least bring a mini tripod, can put in pocket.

Gam! Same mind set. Free come out, I buy kopi
The S5 if coupled with the wide angle len is also 27mm, same like our cam.
But if attach the tele, it's a telescopic 648mm!
Too bad never update series, can't make money from me ;p
so sunday is possible to shoot den..depending on time n place... lets each give suggestions den we pick e best one how?
for me, I suggest venue - east coast(can shoot landscape, ppl, macro and even panning)
time - ok w anything
no problem.. i'm staying in the east..what about you.. so maybe next time can come out for photo shoots.. agree.. cos it's been about a year plus that S5is is in the market.. was wondering how come so long no updates.. so decided to scrap it and give fuji a chance (i've been using canon P&S all these while)...
the price diff btw S5(approx $699) and S8000(approx $499) is $200.. while S8000 may not have as many features as S5 but I am confident for photo quality S8000 is on par or can b better
Me stay in e east, simei. how abt rest of u guys?
