I using panasonic... just bought and tried.. seem ok so far. I went thru some rechargeable batt threads here and come to a conclusion. Actually most brands are ok but just tt certain batches have manufacturing defects thus the ppl who bought these batches feel the brands are no good .. :sticktong

i hate it when my pc crashed too... its like everything back to square 1:what:. Hope u did backed up ur impt stuff on a ext harddisk.

Damn, hate when **** like that happens. Generally my PC is reinstalled every 1.5 to 2 years. Anti virus, anti spyware, anti whatever nonsense also no use. That's life with Windows. Unless you install Unix/Linux on your machine. Hmm.. I guess I am not the only pervert who goes back to the office on weekends.

hi guys, i'm back. duno why e pc couldn't detect
my hard disk. i did back up my data, but those that i was downloading
all gone. 1 of e hd is prob close to 10 yrs, friend saved it but prob
it's going to up lorry soon. ;(

Kenn, you want background blur is it something like this? Taken at F/3.5. The figurines are placed half an inch apart.

DOF-front.jpg

This is also at F/3.5, the focus is the other way. Front blue, back clear. I still have another one where all are in focus but that kind of boring.
DOF-back.jpg

To a certain extend, still can play a bit with DOF. P&S like that quite ok liao lah.
:)

how did u get e 2nd shot?:dunno:

having a cam w manual controls let u learn more and bring out the camera's potential... You should find out more various cameras' performance(each brand have their own specialization) and see wat u can get w ur budget. Do join us if u can.. by the way which day for kopi ar.. anyone keen for kopi in the evening on wed or thurs den we do some night scene shooting?( must bring tripod if tt case)

speaking of manual controls, i was kinda disappointed yesteday when
i tried out e manual controls in e ktv room. when i used aperture priority,
i could take pics without flash but when i switched to total manual
e results were terrible. anyone mastered manual controls alridi?

Oi! You another one want to stress me out. Discuss discuss, I am not good enough to teach. Like kena 4D, sometimes get decent shots.

I use Varta 2000 and GP 2700. This set of GP not bad leh, can last quite long. Some more now NTUC buy 1 get 1 free. Nice!! Hee hee!

Friend, one hour already.. still waiting for your pics leh.

Happening ah, my friend. Which KTV you went? *blink* *blink*

When we attended Cecil's post class practical, he did ask that we try out manual. I think in the first place gotta approximate what you see of the scene first. At my level, although I did take quite a few using M mode, I am not really comfortable in it yet.. and I don't think you should start your M practise in such dark places lor. You don't find too challenging meh?

10 years is very good! Better transfer to another FD, alternatively RAID it.

Alright, is it better to compress the pics or resized it?? or it doesnt even matter...

manual isnt easy to shoot.. I feel... its abt getting e correct combination of ISO, shutter and apeture together yourself...compared to shutter or aperture priority where by u chosoe 1 factor, the camera den use "AHGARATION"(:plearn from parampita:p) to decide the other. Still, I feel manual shooting is the highest level of training...

Completely Agree... it's a TnE kinda thing.. (Trial and error).. like what cecil said, can only reach manual after mastering P, A & S.. That's why M is the last (PASM)...

Thank you all for your invites and generosity to try out your cams but this guy unfortunately lives on the other side of the very jammed bridge. If we are meeting for lunch, I might not get there till dinner and if the meeting was for dinner, I might not get there till the next day. Thanks anyway from JB.

do u wan share wat u lookin for in ur camera or what stuff u usually shoot den we can suggest some models tt u can try out in the shops? S8000/S8100 is a all-rounder(probably master of none) w a long zoom range but small sensor thus e performance cant reali excel - my 1 cent of opinion :blah:

For the night shot:

ISO100. Focal Length: 4.7mm. Exposure Correction: -2.0. Aperture: F2.8. Shutter Speed: 1.1
