Prices at Audio house is the same as Harvey Norman. Way too ex.

I popped by CP @ Marina SQ over the weekend, they offer me $2999 for the 7D Kit. The salesguy told me that the 7D is cropped version of 5D MKII but I think it is not really 100% true right?

Sad to say that I am still living in the dinosaur age of film SLR, I am constantly keeping a look out for a nice DSLR to invest but I have no idea when to step into the realm of DSLR, the product line is endless and too fast to catch up. Right now I am using a borrowed EOS 400D with my Canon 50mm F1.4, the cropped factor really irritates me because my lens becomes 80mm...Good or bad? I dunno, maybe depend on the situation.

My primary subject of photography is my daughter and I am seriously trying to build up a nice childhood album for her. I think I need some decent photography gadgets...

Can someone clear my doubts between the FF and CF DSLR? Maybe I am too comfortable with my film SLR so moving into cropped frame becomes a discomfort.

I guess if you are concerned with the cropped factor, why not get a lens for cropped bodies? Like instead of the 24-70, there is the 17-55 which gives you something around there (27.2mm - 88mm) after taking into consideration the 1.6 crop factor. As for the 50mm prime, I dun remember canon having a 30mm f/1.4 but I guess you can try looking at sigma's 30mm f/1.4 offering which gives you 48mm.

just my 2 cents :)

@Kenneth83: Thanks for suggestion. Am I right to say that I have to pay more for lens to get wider angle for cropped sensors? Initially wanna get the Sigma 30mm F1.4 but unfortunately it will not work with my film SLR...thats the agony.

Does anyone have any idea about the sensitivity of lenses with the 7D? My 50mm F1.4 is not working well with 400D, focusing is hard. Been reading the forum thread, someone said it is the compatibility with cameras.

May I ask how good is the kit lens? Normally the kit lenses from the rebel series are slow and plasticky...is the 7D's kit lens a solid glass?

if paying more = buying new lens as you cant use back your old lens for wide angle then i guess so. :)

Understood about that but do you think its a good idea to cover a SLR with 5 yrs warranty? Put your mind at ease?

Cheers!

has anyone experienced any problems with their 7D like it would just hang-up and become unresponsive? the camera was in idle for less than a minute and i put the lens cap then suddenly it stopped working, although i could see the settings on the lcd change when turning the dial mode (F,CA,Av,TV,M) but i can't change any settings like shutter speed, aperture, etc.. and the start/stop button is also not functioning even the shutter release button when pressed or half pressed. turned it on and off but still no fix, i took out the battery and put it right back then everything's working fine... is something wrong or did i miss anything obvious here?

Hi bros i just got my 7d, just wondering any problems with the new firmware.. My last firmware update for my e71 killed the phone... That's why now I am quite worried about firmware updates..

Sandisk CF Extreme IV would be quite alright already. For pricing information do check the Canon Price List in the Marketplace forum. :)

This is what I wanted to ask to! Have anyone experienced multi fps shooting yet?

Currently I have a ExtremeIII but I have not tried it for events and stuff, so I'm still not sure for now.

Also, anyone with the new Sandisk Extreme care to share his/her experience??

Extreme III is more than enough. For continuous shooting, large fine JPEG, i can shoot around 79 shots of 8fps, but 6 for Raws.

Video function wise, the buffer gauge never comes up so its more than sufficient. I think an extreme II is also sufficient. Theretically the transfer rate for video is 330mb/min so calculate yourself.

Sian man, my 70-200mm f4L is back focusing at the 70mm end, while 200mm is still tack sharp...looks like I ahve to send both lens and body in for calibration, as microadjustment in-camera won't help in this instance...:(

Today, I finally got my camera body and the lenses (70-200mm f4L, 17-55mm f2.8 IS USM) back from CSC.

Apparently, according to the technician, the camera body itself needed some electrical calibration, as he told me that the lenses weren't at fault.

When I went back home and tested, I found that they were still a tad bit soft regardless of the focal length, as I pixel pipped.

However, this time round, I was able to do my own microadjustment and got them tack sharp again at both end of the focal lengths.

Thats quite an investment at one go :)

What do you mean?
There is no way to completely off the master flash for canon wireless flash system.
They need it to transmit the signal to trigger and control the slave flash.

yup. It will fire the flash for the built in one because the flash is used to transmit the signal to trigger any off-cam slaves. However, the flash fired from the built-in one will not affect the image as it is not captured.

can view my thread of product and anime figurine shots using 7D and a single off-cam 580EX II here: http://www.clubsnap.com/forums/showthread.php?t=591586

Hi, you have the combination of lens that I am thinking of, i.e. 17-55f2.8 and 70-200f4.

I am currently on 10-22 and 24-105f4. I am thinking of getting the 17-55f2.8 to have a better close range and 70-200 for tele.

What is your experience with the lens you have now? Do you feel "complete".

BTW, I am not a serious photographer but just "suitable" lens for walkabout. I like to take people (streets/indoor portraits but have not tried studio portraits).

Will you recommend the two lens?

Thanks,
