Indeed a good promo for the E-M10 now.. :)

Agreed! But not so for their em1..

Yeah.. E-M1 cannot meet the much "better" deals from Daiso..
However, at least Oly SG has been active and aggressive this couple of months putting out the promos for their models..

Looking at Panasonic, their GH4 launch and perpetual out of stock notice is very disappointing...

Couldn't agree with you more !

I noticed that the EM-10 is so much cheaper than EM-5. What are those functions that you can do in EM-5 that you cannot in EM-10 ?

Thanks

The price of the E-M1 is still higher than street price after $350 cash back.

What cash back?

Thats the RRP. Street price is lower as well after the cash back.

One difference that may make or break the choice is weather resistance in the EM5 which isn't avail in the EM10.

Ok, if buy as second body, for the savings, I can give up the weather resistance.

What about in-built flash, cold shoe point and no of axis of stabilzation ?

At $1,198 with 14-42 and 45-150 lens, should be quite cheap right ? How much is the street price of these 2 lens, anyway ?

Thanks

EM5 has 5 axis IBIS, while EM10 has 3 axis. Former doesn't have built in flash, latter has and lastly what's a cold shoe point ? ;)

Harvey Norman was having a $998 promo over the weekend I think but I'm not sure whether it's single or double lens kit.

Cold shoe is the similar of hot shoe mount without the electrical/electronic contacts. But i am not sure why was this brought up by bro Ryan... i think he meant hot shoe bah... :)

Then the poster is meaningless for potential E-M1 buyers right?

Ok then EM10 is good enuf for me, don't really need the extra 2 axis IBIS ... I need the in-built flash more then the extra 2 axis IBIS ...

Ok, will check it out ...

Btw, how much is the street price of these 2 lens (ie the 14-42 and 40-150), anyway ?

thanks

Ok jackwolf and Keith,

I am now confused whether it is cold show or hot shoe ... :)

I am referring to the area/plate/connection usually on top of the camera where you can attach accessories like external flash, mini microphone ... etc ...

What "shoe" is that ?

Its the hotshoe :)
In all, I will think the EM10 will make a better choice, like it or not, the EM5 is honestly quite an 'aged' body comparing to EM10. Unless u r looking specifically for weather resistance, go for the EM10. EM10 uses the EM1 processor & the EM5 sensor, so its considered an upgrade spec wise in a sense.

Also as a second body option, I will go for a smaller compact option since I presume the main body is gonna be a heavier setup.

the poster is just to tell people there's discount, check with your friendly participating dealer for better prices :D

This month's promo for em-5 and em-1 not that attractive, cheaper yes but without grips. But good for those who don't need the grips, save some upfront payment.

Ok thanks for the clarification ... :)

I have same sentiment as you, Keith. Don't really need it to be weather resistance.

But does the lost of 2 axis IBIS makes a difference really ?

If only the EM10 uses both the EM1 processor and sensor ... Hahaha

Just wondering, in the make up of a computer, which is more important in determining the IQ of the photos, processor or sensor ?

Thanks

Yes, totally agreed ...

Hi,
5 vs 3 IBIS , of course 5 will be better lol but then frankly 3 is sufficient I feel. Fuji and Panasonic bodies don't have In body IS but u also don't see them being thrown away. Simply a superbly good to have function. In fact , EM1 ibis is so good I can hold my baby in my arm and use the other arm to take a photo with a 12-40/2.8 mounted.

I wouldn't really go into too deep comparisons of the tech stuff in a camera but that's me. To me the user is much more impt. I started with the now defunct EP1 (if u have used it u know) and not only survived using it but loved it.

That said , back to topic both EM10 and EM5 are good cameras , but for a second body ; ya , I'll recommend EM10. Pair it up with a 12-32, 14-42EZ , 20/1.7 or a 17/2.8 for those really 'travel light' days.

Qoo having time sales again at 819+25 for em10 + kit lens + grip.. !!

Hi all, I am thinking of getting the EM-10 very soon. Can anyone advise whether I should wait for COMEX happening at the end of this month, or just take advantage of the August cashback deal now? Thanks!
