These days i'm thinking that my 24-70 is a little lacking on the wide end and on the tele end.

I'm thinking that a 16-35 and 70-200 combo might be an idea instead of the 24-70 middleground.

I used to own the wide (17-40) and the tele(70-200) first for a year, then got the 24-105 to cover the middle. Now I am thinking of the 300...but not sure F2.8 or F4. Weight and cost vs F2.8 aperture and the "best image quality" for all canon lens.

Loving it every minute :) So far I have covered 1 wedding (day and night) with it.. Just this lens (not perfect but good enough with 580EX, of cos) The 105mm is so useful when I need to reach the stage while standing below... Only downside is the 24mm not wide enough... but I managed to move back while taking table shots... I will have to change to longer lens if I were to use 24-70... again it depends on your use.. The best combination will be 16-35 and 24-105 ;) just perfect

yeah, i agree wif u on that the focal length.. sometimes, i find the focal length not short enuf for me to take wide shots of buildings or classrooms.. overall rating of this lens is very good, the USM, IS, L, 105mm focal length and the image quality are very good.. the bokeh @ f4 & 105mm is considerably good for macro shots.. it is worth the buy~~ :)

Well many people say the 300mm with the TC is very good too! That is why kena tempted again! The question is whether it is worth to get the King of Kings in picture quality or the lower end cousin.

The King abit heavy wor and bulky... cousin good enough lah :bsmilie:

if you shoot in poor lighting conditions, only the King of the Kings (f2.8) will suffice.
else the king (f4) itself will do :)

do you have enough back/shoulder muscle for the King of the Kings ?

someday in a few years i will get this lens..
i know miniUltraman will say BBB..

With f2.8 lens, your viewfinder is brighter.

With f2.8 lens, your AF is more accurate since more light are allowed thru.

With f2.8 lens, your cross sensor is triple the accuracy of normal cross sensor according to canon.

Wiht f2.8 lens, your become poorer ...;p

i have this same setup. but i sold my 85.. i find it a lil too short.. 135 works more for me. in fact i use more of 24-70 and 35 now. others are either for certain assignments like gigs.. that's when i'll use the 70-200 and 17-40 more.
