my D80 can only set ISO to 1600 normal setting
so my guess is that the D90 can go 1 stop higher with good noise control

leaked pic of video capture mode :)

What will the video quality be? I hope not some crap QVGA and QISK or whateva. A decent VGA 30fps is what needed to compete with compact PnS that has those capabilities

A lot of talk on the D90...

now what about the kit lens 18~105mm VR ? any info? anyone can shed some light on this lens?

At least you'll get movie kind of bokeh without the need of some rotating ground glass adapters (what do they call it?).

AFAIK... Fujiflim prosumer S100FS cannot zoom during video recording

Hope this D90 one can...

I think most likely can zoom, because the zoom is self controlled by user aint it?

I don't think there is any form of locking mechanism in the existing zoom lenses such that it will prevent you from turning the zoom ring during a video shoot... ;p

must also focus manually or can it AF while recording?
but can be creative with focus and out of focus video

Can zoom.............but can focus or not? Will the AF work when the zoom is being turned manually by the user?

Or maybe can manual zoom plus user have to manual AF. Like that also waste time.

DSLR with video recording is a joke, in my own opinion.

But i guess that is the way the game is played and whatever the general consumer wants, they will normally get.

How many professional video lenses have autofocus? DSLR video recording is not a joke. I think it's very useful if they can up the video resolution to 1920x1080 with a decent frame rate.

Yes I tried on prosumer S100FS ... can manually operate the zoom lens... but it doesn't focus ... all blur out! video

Since the video will be taken during Live View mode, autofocus will be using the contrast detect autofocus method, also, you'll be able to zoom the lens just like during the current live view - All it is just allowing you to save the live view video that goes to the lcd screen in current live view models, but with the extra hardware of the microphone grille, so your movies won't be silent.

Don't compare with a prosumer.. It's a different ballgame..

Most SLR/DSLR zoom lenses are nearly parfocal at all the focal lengths. When you zoom, the focus should be more or less still there even if it will be out, it is only by a little bit.

Just because there's LV video function doesn't make it less of a DSLR. The lenses behave the same way as if you're looking at it through the viewfinder, except it's stopped down to your desired aperture.

Use a clapper board and record your sound separately using a recorder like the Zoom H4. ;p

what price range do you think this baby will come in at? It's USD 1299 or around SGD 1850-ish

with the specs mostly out, would one get the D90 or D300?

seems like circuitcity has the D90 for pre-order already..

"Features

12.3-megapixel CMOS sensor: This Nikon D90 camera body features a DX-format CMOS image sensor that provides the highest level of performance. Its integrated A/D converter enables selection between 12-bit and 14-bit conversions. The sensor design supports the broad light sensitivity range of ISO 200 to ISO 3200, and features refined high-ISO noise reduction.

3.0" LCD monitor: A high-resolution, super-density, 920,000-dot LCD monitor makes critical image review possible. This monitor also allows ultra-wide, 170-degree viewing in all directions.

Live view: You’ll also have a live preview of your subject, giving you point-and-shoot feel with the quality of a DSLR.

11-area AF: The sensor module offers an 11-area AF that ensures consistently fast and precise focus lock under varying shooting conditions. The wide area AF system gives greater compositional freedom when shooting sports and action.

4.5fps continuous shooting: Capture fast action and fleeting expressions. The D90 can shoot up to 4.5 frames per second.

Scene Recognition System: This system recognizes subject and scene conditions prior to capturing the shot. Enjoy improved subject tracking and subject identification for rapid and accurate focus area selection. Highlight analysis optimizes auto exposure by providing more accurate control. Light source inference studies both subject and pattern to achieve optimal white balance.

HD movie mode: Capture your surroundings in cinematic quality. The D90 features the D-Movie mode, which shoots HD movie with sound at 24fps.

D-Lighting enhancement: This technology compensates for underexposed images or insufficient flash by automatically adding light and detail to selected shots where needed, without affecting properly exposed areas.

In-camera editing menu: The in-camera editing features include Nikon D-lighting (that adds light and detail to selected shots only where needed), red-eye correction, image trimming, image overlay, monochrome black and white, sepia and cyanotype along with skylight, warm tone and custom color filter effects.

Lens included: You'll be ready to go in no time with the included 5.8x AF-S DX NIKKOR 18-105mm f/3.5-5.6G ED VR lens."
