What will the video quality be? I hope not some crap QVGA and QISK or whateva. A decent VGA 30fps is what needed to compete with compact PnS that has those capabilities
At least you'll get movie kind of bokeh without the need of some rotating ground glass adapters (what do they call it?).

I think most likely can zoom, because the zoom is self controlled by user aint it?
I don't think there is any form of locking mechanism in the existing zoom lenses such that it will prevent you from turning the zoom ring during a video shoot... ;p

Or maybe can manual zoom plus user have to manual AF. Like that also waste time.
DSLR with video recording is a joke, in my own opinion. :devil:
But i guess that is the way the game is played and whatever the general consumer wants, they will normally get.

How many professional video lenses have autofocus? DSLR video recording is not a joke. I think it's very useful if they can up the video resolution to 1920x1080 with a decent frame rate.
Yes I tried on prosumer S100FS ... can manually operate the zoom lens... but it doesn't focus ... all blur out! video

Since the video will be taken during Live View mode, autofocus will be using the contrast detect autofocus method, also, you'll be able to zoom the lens just like during the current live view - All it is just allowing you to save the live view video that goes to the lcd screen in current live view models, but with the extra hardware of the microphone grille, so your movies won't be silent.
Don't compare with a prosumer.. It's a different ballgame..
Most SLR/DSLR zoom lenses are nearly parfocal at all the focal lengths. When you zoom, the focus should be more or less still there even if it will be out, it is only by a little bit.
Just because there's LV video function doesn't make it less of a DSLR. The lenses behave the same way as if you're looking at it through the viewfinder, except it's stopped down to your desired aperture.
Use a clapper board and record your sound separately using a recorder like the Zoom H4. ;p
