Finally set my mind to switch from PnS to DSLR. Without a doubt, D90 is the ideal choice for the matter.

Just wanna check with fellow CSer on the usual items you guys carry along in the cam bag, which may come in handy when in need (other than tripod, len cloth etc.)

Still new to DSLR and i guess i just embark onto a whole new journey of photography. Great to be here, and hope to learn from you guys. =)

Cheers!

blower... remote... extra battery... polarizer... extra memory card... pen and paper...?

Thanks alot for your input. Will keep that in mind.

if going trekking for nature photography, i will put things like, small torch, small jackknife, compass, wet tissue etc... more like army field camp liao, hahaha

Upgraded to D90 yeah! Just love all those buttons and customization, sucker for technical stuff....haha

defected from canon to nikon =x

hey fellow d90ers.. noob question over here.. i got my cam for 5mths already, but was wondering do we need to go nikon for servicing for the cam ? such as cleaning of the sensor areas.. tt area i'm totally not familiar..

sensor cleaning is not under warranty and you may incur some cost.

5 months old shouldnt be any problems that require you to take such an action, go buy a blower or keep ur cam in a dry box.

No need, unless you spot dust in the pictures.

from which models?

50D + 550D =)

thanks!

i am totally blown away by the Nikon D90. it's so....WOW/BOOMZ! What Canon is boasting on the 550D, the D90 had them 2 yrs ago. And lens-wise, Canon makes crap EF-S lenses like 18-135 (that is seriously a waste of money @ $600+), the 18-105 DX is a hell lot better. and unfortunately my lens budget is in this range, so nikon is the obvious choice. the 35 f/1.8 DX is a blessing too! and the shutter sound of a nikon...sweet and distinctly nikon. anyway if i'm not wrong - all nikon DSLR cameras produce that very sound right?

Got a noob qns to ask CS bros and sis.

Is it true if the lens is on Auto Focus, turning the focusing ring will damage the lens?

hey guys, i realised my AF on the d90 seems to misfocus on certain points like the top and right-most points. have you guys had such problems before? i noticed in those misfocus-ed photos, the image is sharper BEHIND the focused point. all the shots were tested with tripod. i guess i have to go visit nikon service centre within one week of buying the d90. sighs.

hmmm.. have u tested it with other lenses? it could either be the body or the lense. best to bring both for a check! :)

well tested my lens on my fren's d90...no prob. tested on mine...only selected AF points have back focusing issues. oh well...bring to service center tmr. anyway i realise my d90 kit set is a HK Kit Set...but distributed by Nikon Singapore...i'm confused. can anyone enlightened a 1 week old Canon-to-Nikon user?

Nikon Singapore get stock from HK, the headquarters is in Hongkong. that's what i read from CS. ;p

ah, i see. thanks for your help! =) anyway, i've done tests on my 35 f/1.8G on my friend's d90 and on mine. seems like some of my AF points front focus and some back focus. and his is perfectly spot on.
