hey guys, i realised my AF on the d90 seems to misfocus on certain points like the top and right-most points. have you guys had such problems before? i noticed in those misfocus-ed photos, the image is sharper BEHIND the focused point. all the shots were tested with tripod. i guess i have to go visit nikon service centre within one week of buying the d90. sighs.
Do you have samples of such shots? Curious to see what it is like. :embrass:

Hi everyone,

After going through reviews and handsons for a month,
I've finally gotten myself a D90 with the 18-105.

switched from canon 50D & 550D to Nikon D90. first nikon and got problem. so very lucky. and the service center seriously pales in comparison to canon. zzz...i wonder if i made a bad decision. i like how the nikon camera feels over the canon. d90 already so old, so many batches have come and gone...still can have QC problems. called them to ask them to rush the job as i've to use my camera for work-related stuff next thurs. hope they can have it done by then and done well. i dun wanna make a second/third trip down again and again. AF on the camera is a tricky issue. i hope they can settle it. but i seriously doubt so. even canon cldn't settle their own AF problems on those lemon 7Ds...wad more a service center like nikon. i'm hoping for a miracle. haha!

Hi guys, need some help on decision to make..
currently having D90 and 18-200 VRI
planning to get 70-200 F2.8, and maybe future 17-55 F2.8... should i still keep my 18-200 with me??? or sell it to get some funding ...

If you plan & decide to go for the 70-200 F2.8 & 17-55 F2.8, no point keeping the 18-200 becoz you'll like the both 2.8 more than the 18-200 & it'll will be a white elephant. Furthermore both of the 2.8 are a good combination. Unless you want to keep as spare as like you have spare cash, if not can sell it to fund your other lenses ;)

depends if u mind the inconvenience of having to switch btwn 2 lenses & whether the weight matters...

the 70-200 is significantly bigger & heavier than the 18-200. for travel & general walkabouts, you may wish to keep the 18-200 for its versatility (2 lenses vs 1 lens?) & relatively light-weight (2kg vs 0.6kg?).

agreed on this.
for travel , you wont want to carry so heavy lens plus tripod and walk all day.
unless you are on photoshooting trip,

these 2 lenses are great for shoots where you can leisurely set up your equipment, and circumstances allow you to change lenses, like photoshoots. but for your travel and general photography, I'd recommend you keep the 18-200. its "super-zoom" will serve you well, not having to change lenses on the go.

Sorry guys for the intrusion, I do have a question on D90. While I understand that pressing the Liveview button once is considered one shutter count, what about pressing the DOF preview button in front? Counted as one SC too?

Thanks,

Btw, that's one additional person to the D90 user group.

Welcome to the D90 group. :)

Pressing the LV button - one shutter count. But as for the DOF button, it does not consider any shutter count.

Thank you! Still warning up and learning this fantastic camera!

Okay then, so now I won't feel so apprehensive about pressing that button... *phews*... Hate to "exercize" the shutters unnecessarily...

Thanks again!
