Thank you! Still warning up and learning this fantastic camera!

Okay then, so now I won't feel so apprehensive about pressing that button... *phews*... Hate to "exercize" the shutters unnecessarily...

Thanks again!

Just remember, that if shutter opens to reveal the sensor, it will count as 1 shutter count. So pressing liveview, the shutter have to open, so count as 1 shutter count. Open shutter to clean sensor, counts as 1 shutter count also.

Pressing DoF preview, shutter never opens. All that happened is the lens aperture is stopped down to the F-stop selected. You still can see through the VF, meaning the mirror is still down, meaning the shutter is closed. So no shutter count.

Thank you for the extra details! :) It helps!

Have been playing with the 60mm Macro for a couple of hours just now... shoot $10 close up, shoot towel close up, shoot chili fruit on plants...

Still not happy with the results... Must be lighting issue...

I think the lens is not suitable for you. Better give it to me.................. :bsmilie: :bsmilie: :bsmilie:

For macro, it is very advisable for you to use tripod. Especially if you shoot really really close up. Also due to the extremely thin DoF, it is advisable to shot stopped down quite a bit, and compensate with flash. And for flash, it is advisable to DIY a diffuser so the light can get to the subject well enough (lens is so close, maybe will block the light if not diffused).

Harhar very funny! I said not happy with the RESULTS, not lens - "Pilot error" okay? :bsmilie:

But feel free to give me pointers, k? :D

Thanks for the important advice, I did use the tripod... but used timer instead - will get the shutter release cord when I get the time... As for the flas unit, I'll look into it - it's another heavy investment which requires careful considerations... I do have a video light however (really bright)...

Then say not happy with the results of the shoot. But you did not. So I take it as it is with the lens. Thank you :bsmilie: :bsmilie: :bsmilie:

Since you have a video light, play around with mirrors & reflectors & black cards. They will help distribute light to where you want them to light up. Just need a little creativity ;)

Mirrors... I have an A4 mirror paper sheet (I'll find a hard backing for it). As for the black cards - that's a new one for me. Another "hmmmm...." Can you give me an example of its usage? I'm clueless...

Ok, ok I'll be more DETAILED with my sentences in the future... I'm too scared that you'll hound me for life! :bsmilie:

Too late! You'll be hounded for sure unless you turn over the lens to me........ :bsmilie:
You don't need A4 mirrors, unless you want to light up a larger area. You can use the small sharpener mirrors for better control for small spaces that you want to highlight. Using black cards is to block off excess light that you don't want on your.... say, the tanks that you shot. ;)

im just waiting for my 1 week plus old d90 to return from the NSC. sighs!

haha.. i am refering to any D90 user around here?

by the way, is it necessary to use photo editing software ?

Does the camera itself bring out all sorts of effect?

Nothing is necessary.

You can choose not to shoot with your D90 too. It is not necessary.

As for in camera editing, it is there, just read the manual that came with your camera.

I have been hearing a lot about shutter count and when someone is selling their DSLR, they always state the shutter count. I have some questions regarding shutter count and hope that someone can enlighten me. TIA... :)

1. What constitutes to normal shutter count?
2. What happens when your shutter count is too high?
3. What must be done when your shutter count is too high?
4. If something must be done when the shutter count is high, what is the count?
