Hello Guys

I am a D90 user, bought mine in Boston about a year ago.

I have heard that Nikon is about to release a new body to replace the D90. The new camera is in between of the D90 and D300, in terms of number of focusing points and minor upgrades. Can anyone here advise?

Thank you.

Judging on the life span of a DSLR, its seems about time for a replacement.

But nobody knows for sure when and what the price is going to be like.

However it would be nice of Nikon to introduce something new to go against C.

D700 is a very good camera yes. But once you go FX, you will need FX lenses and will need to sell all your DX lenses. Can get very expensive...
From your equipment list, all I see are DX lenses...

For me, it will be a very long time before I go FF, if ever...

I am not anti FF. I just cannot afford or justify FF. This is because I need to save money for diapers. A personal restriction...

And I feel I can still shoot ok with DX. No need to go FX. I am not a pro or something.

I'm am not FX junkie but soon it will come just waiting saving etc........ DX was always OK for snapshots, but you just can't get anything on DX equivalent to 14mm ultra-ultra wide on FX, and if you want to shoot in available light, ISO 6,400 looks great without excuses on the D700 or D3, but not on any DX camera.

Welcome the D700. Even if the only difference between the D700 and D300 was the finder, the huge finder of the D700 alone is enough to justify the D700 for many people. It would for me, but "Is It Worth It" is different for each of us.

Wow. Now there is a new standard for PnS? DX only ok for snapshots...

I wonder how those pros using DX can manage to churn out one award winning image after another. How can they sustain their business just by using snapshot quality DX?...

Makes me wonder...

sometimes many are too into the gears... i remember seeing one album in flickr.. a lady using D40x.. and wow.. the photo was really amazing... also my photographer fren also telling me he wont be using a D3 if given a choice, but when customer see u using cheaper body, they might not award the job to them due to that..

ask ourself.. are u gonna shoot under rain? u need the super fast XX FPS ? ... unless u r pro or u are very very particular with ur photo, most father, hobbist, photo shooting lover will do fine with many entry and semi pro bodies.

i am saying this as my bro is a pro and usese everything from D90 to D3x ... ofcos its good to hv a D3x but for the price premium, it does not make sense to many ppl ,financially speaking

Photography makes it easy for anyone to create images without needing any artistic ability or training: just set AUTO and go. Anyone can take pictures. The lack of structure is why so many photographs don't make it. Like myself!!! Still needs more shots shots shots.Basic structures ,strong images. Images that get the basics right always get people to go ooooh and ahhhhh, and those without their fundamentals in order are boring.

Keep it simple........I make my best photos when I only carry one camera and one lens. THis way I'm thinking about my pictures, and not about my camera........If we put this effort into learning to see better instead of buying more cameras, our photos would be a lot better than everyone out there today.

I agree.. now that i found my ideal camera (D90), i dont think so much of the gears but only the moments to capture. Its really everything, well amost everything i want in my camera...

Fundamentals... Structure...

Everyone can create images. But to create art... that is a different matter.

I think in the end, what makes a great photo, is composition, content and a creative mind.

Wait till you start carrying a single Film camera with 1 lens. That is when you REALLY have to think about every single shot.

No live view, no instant review. You get to see your pictures only after it is developed. Much like waiting for the coming of a newborn baby.

When i use my 600films on my polariod sx-70, that's how I feel for every shot haha! each shot cost a whopping 4dollars.

Finally set my mind to switch from PnS to DSLR. Without a doubt, D90 is the ideal choice for the matter.

Just wanna check with fellow CSer on the usual items you guys carry along in the cam bag, which may come in handy when in need (other than tripod, len cloth etc.)

Still new to DSLR and i guess i just embark onto a whole new journey of photography. Great to be here, and hope to learn from you guys. =)

Cheers!
