About the 50mm... Is it a must to set lock the aperture?? Cant we manually choose the aperture?? sorry...very new to this lens..

Are there any way to get rid of Fee while still being able to manually play with the aperture?? Or if its not possible then, could you offer a simple explanation for me??

Thanks guys..;)

for it to function on D90, we MUST lock it at f22, and there is no way we can twist the aperture ring manually on d90, it is only possible if you are using higher end body like d700 d3 etc where they have this feature.

why would u wan to twist the aperture manually while u can change it eaasily with just a simple turning of dial?

cheers..:)

For the old SLR days feel mah, where u manually set the aperture by twisting the aperture ring on the lens itself. By the way, the D200 and D300 (and bodies above this range) also have this feature.

hahaa...it was a noob question laa...I was wondering why cant manually adjust the aperture...

Another noob question...High F numbers like i dunno, 8- 22 are they used mainly for bright situations? like in the day? or what other effects does it do? I know low F number for low light conditions and more bokeh...but how about high??

Thanks man!:D

Hi danswordsman,

Why dun you try it out for yourself? :bsmilie: Set the camera to aperture priority mode and take the same picture using different f-stops. Its mostly relating to depth of field and sharpness of the lens so you really need to try out b4 you can appreciate and gain the knowledge for yourself by looking at the result.

I find this works for me hahaha

ya man totally agree. it's better to try out everythin urself better than memorising whatever we say in the forums. doesnt necessarily mean higher f-stop numbers does not necessarily apply to only bright situations but also places where u wan the whole picture to be in sharp detail (narrow DOF). works in relation with iso and shutter speed (yes yes the same old triangle) to get the best exposure! :)

Hey,
Anyone of you, tried on this lenses, can post your comments and photos also?
Thanks

You can try Orient photo in Sim Lim or Cathay in Peninsula Plaza.

FEE error occur coz you need to activate the aperture lock on the 50mm lens.
shift it to the lowest aperture f/22 and lock with the orange tab.

D90 should be able to take most lenses... only a matter of whether can MF or AF + got meter or no meter.

Hi Bro,

Thanks for the info. So it means that i lock it at F22 and should use the command or sub command dial on the D90 body to control the F stop size?
So i assume that the 50mm F1.8 AF-S would be able just plug and play without having to lock any F stop size ?
Tks :)

Thanks.. I'll head there tomorrow..

Hey bro,

Let me know how much they quote you.
coz mind got a bit scratched coz i didnt have it on the 1st day when i got my D90.
Guess my fingers a bit rough haha....
tks anyway.

hi..

is there any way to make the viewfinder look bigger? cos im wearing spec..i realise that i cant see the whole picture clearly
there will be some blockage at the sides.

bro if u're referring to 50mm f1.4 AF-S then yes you dun have to lock the aperture. anyway for af-d it will forever be locked at f22 (smallest aperture) if not you cant use it on the d90 so it doesnt really matter whether the manual aperture control is present.
