Hmmm I have yet to get such a serious problem and the worse i faced was occasionally the AF function goes off as in cannot focus at all. I checked with the sales person @ harvey norman when i was getting my 50mm F1.8 and he advised that i just take out the lens and put in again, says this is common for Nikon lens.

Overall i am satisfied with the camera so far so keeping my fingers crossed

All salespersons will sure this is like that, and that is like this...can't trust them coz they have already sold you the product and will carry to say its ok, not a problem at all, etc.

In fact, I just happen to visit a UK website, and it happen that the editor of that site actually experienced the same like I do, after 5mins of continuous shooting while doing a review on D90. Wow, so its something good to know...so its good to cross everything and hope it won't happen again or to any other users.

I am going to monitor it and once it happen again, i will video down using my camera phone and show Nikon Singapore. Luckily I bought 2 extra years of warranty from Harvey Norman, besides the 1-year warranty from Nikon directly.

Let's hope our 'buddy' - D90, don't fail us in any way anymore...happy shooting, bro!!;p

so the symptom is after 5 minutes of continuous shooting with the 50mm lens, the AF will go haywire? Was there any 'resolution' for this issue? Care to SIC link..

No la not rich, harvey norman can bargain one.

I got mine for 195 with free UV filter, if u dun need the filter they can do 190.

In fact, i bought my D90 from Harvey norman also, they offered me the best price amongst comparision btw ps/ap/ms.

Price was not big difference in the 1660 range but harvey threw in more freebies.

Yupz happy shooting to you too. I bought the 2 years extra warranty too. I think peace of mind is important hahaha :bsmilie:

The front lens element quite well-recessed so actually don't really need a filter. Using a low quality filter is worse on a 50mm cause the front element is quite a distant from the filter when compared to most lenses, aka more tendency for flares.

Flare issues are always a common thing when using filters.
Anyway i fitted mine with a decent filter - Hoya.

Yep I'd suggest removing the filter when shooting instead of placing a filter that ends up affecting the IQ!

which lens are u using? for the kit lens its around 45cm distance for focusing from the focal marking (white color line near the dial)

Noted about the filter.

Actually most of the filters given free seems to act as protective filters more than anything else. :bsmilie:

ya, all filters that you put in front of the lens will degrade ur image quality for sure, the better build one will have less degree of degradation, so i usually use lens hood as protective element instead.. :bsmilie:

this price is reasonable, the price for D90 with 18-105 lens should be around 1650-1750 for all the major camera shops, the difference will be just the freebies given, but usually the freebies are all cheapo type, but they are good to start with if you do not have any prior experience, after a while of using them u'll know wat is best for u, so just grab the d90 and start playing with it! u wont regret!

im guessing u can get a lower price for the package... probably bout 15-20 dollars cheaper? well it depends on whether u really need that extra 50mm otherwise 18-55mm is just as good a kit lens...
