This is a mechanical sound, not a generated one, so I am afraid you have to put up with it and the D90 does not have a "quiet mode".

Maybe a tee-shirt or jacket over it will make it a little more quiet.

oic..if tats the case then no choice.haa...
got to put up wif those angry stare of ple..haa

thanx alot..btw dun tink jacket or wat can reduce the sound..

Hi all,
How do you set the AF on a moving which is moving towards you? Not a fast object but something like someone walking towards you.

Do I set to AF-C & select the Dynamic Area Mode? Any other settings to consider?

Depends on the focal length you use, how far that person is and how long you delay after you obtain a focus lock. Most of the time, if that person is sufficiently far away for the lens and aperture you use, the DoF might be able to cover for the slight change in distance.

Let's say the object is about 5m away from me & is walking at a steady speed towards me. Is there a way for our D90 to continuously keep focus on the subject?

Switch to AF-C (Continuous servo AF)

I do understand there is always alittle different price between camera shops, Will do more research, after all getting so many set even each 1 different of 50 Dollar will end up quite alot..

sincerely thanks for those advice:)

yes, but i doubt u can get in huge quantity at a time, as many complain out of stock.

what are the choices available?

ermmm in case u were wondering that lens hood got many different types that u use for different situations like filters, just let u know it's not the case... well the basic function of the hood is to shield off strong rays or light that would otherwise cause flare on the lens. maybe also take note that there are the bayonet mounts ones n the screw on ones.

i think there are a few different shapes u can choose fr but they all serve the same function. the common ones is the flower petal shape ones. there are also rubber ones that are collapsable. anyways the one that comes with ur Nikon lens should suffice

what about flash?

which is the better brand? between nissin, yongnuo and tumax.

no offence but is there really a big difference between nikon and 3rd party flash?

i am new to DSLR.. Just checking to see my option cause nissin di866 seems to be around the same price as sb 600 and have more function i think..

:/

Nikon (and for that matter any other brands) knows and defines the electronic communications that goes on between the body and flash. A 3rd party can only try to see what communication goes on between a Nikon body and flash and try to replicate the functions. They may not get everything correct.

Hi Guys,

Just bought Nikon D90 Kit 18-105mm for a gift. Bought it from SLR Revolution at Funan. Very surprise by their friendly and professional service I receive from them. Obviously they know I know nuts about camera but the guys is nice enough to give me advise and show me how to setup the camera. Recommend the filter and tell me the different kind of filters available from cheap to the more expensive one. How to put the lense and how to protect it. Got the D90 kit, SD card, filter all for 1698

Supposed to get it from Alan Photo but the sales guy super arrogant. I guess he think I'm there for fun. This ah beng looking guy, around 40 plus. Not even interested to show me the camera and when I ask one question he give me one reply back.... simply give me that "get the hell away from me" attitude. The sucks part is, he seems to be so interested to show products to Ang Moh guys. Saw him serving an Ang Moh before me and the ang moh didn't buy. Later after bad experience from him, I walk pass the store and saw him serving another ang moh and taking out the camera and showing the angmoh.

Wanted to get from Cathay, email them but took them quite a while to reply, thus decided to call them and was quoted $1785 for the D90 Kit 18-105mm (no free gift). Friday afternoon got a reply from my email, D90 Kit 18-105mm the offer me at 1560 before GST, after GST would be 1669. Saturday before I decide to buy I call them to see if I'm being offer that price but was told the D90 Kit 18-105mm price would be $1750. Give up and decided to ignore them. Don't know why all the different quotes man. I guess if I come down there and demand for the price quoted in the email is possible but I guess I get better value from SLR Revolution.

Anyway, the guy who receive the gift really love it and thats so cool, thanks to SLR Revolution. I wasn't that confident with them at first because never heard of them, usually Cathay, Alan or John but they proof me wrong. The sales person at SLR Revolution even told me that I can ask the recipients of the gift to come down to the store if he is not sure about the camera but he advise to come down on weekdays when its not crowded. Logical enough.

You can buy, but don't say you were not warned. ;p I have seen enough of 3rd party lenses to always rethink my decision before getting one. If I can wait for a Nikon, I'll wait. Otherwise, I'll just try my luck. Sigma lenses tend to have front/back focusing problems. Tamron lenses tend to cause camera to hang etc etc etc..... So far Tokina seems to be less problematic but I may be wrong.

I tried a Sunpak flash before. Works fine on D70s and D200 but hangs with D2X.

ok guys.. i going to ask a very noob question..

AF 50mm f/1.4D
AF-S 50mm f/1.4
AF-S VR 18-200mm f/3.5-5.6G IF-ED DX

I am getting confused with those model of lenses that are available..

I know the 50mm 18-200mm stands for the zoom length(laid man term)

VR stands for vibration reduction

what does AF, AF-S, f/3.5-5.6G IF-ED DX, f1.4, f1.4D stands for?

I tried reading wikipedia but i got more confused.

Some of the terms can be found here.
http://imaging.nikon.com/products/imaging/lineup/lens/glossary2.htm

AF means autofocus. AF-S means autofocus with a silent wave motor in the lens. f/1.4 is the maximum aperture.
