wah u got 6-7 friends interested in the D90.... YOU should be the one telling us where is the cheapest lah.... each one go different shop to enquire

the problem is everyone is waiting for each other to scout
... and for my case, i am waiting/planning to start scout after the nikon show... 14-18 OCTpetetherock

There is a thread in the consumer section which answers this.
There will always be 10-50 $ flucuation in prices. Buy when you need or are ready. The time spent waiting or researching isn't worth that much more savings, IMO. Build a good working relationship with the shop that you buy from, I say.

I have bought several D90 from Cameta. The shop is based in Amityville, New York. Since the 90s I have purchased 2 sets of FM2 refurbished units from them. They are very reliable.
The refurbished units are priced lower (US$850). These are doubly checked by Nikon USA and look as new. The bodies usually have extra new batteries and chargers bundled with. Manuals and software are the same, but the box is a gray colored box marked Factory refurbished in USA. (Instead of the usual Gold boxes of Nikon) US customers get free magazine subscriptions.
I have two D90. The D60 @ below US$300 are cheap and I have more than 3 (I shoot prime lenses and need more than 1 body usually). If you do not want kit lenses, these are good options.
The prices in Singapore seems very attractive. If you have friends in the US, or you are in US, Cameta is a store you should check out. Its thru Ebay and payment thru Paypal.
** note that US Nikon warranty does not work in Singapore.

Just for your information, i am currently using Nikon 4GB SDHC Memory Card, You can only get from overseas.
I do understand there is always alittle different price between camera shops, Will do more research, after all getting so many set even each 1 different of 50 Dollar will end up quite alot..

yeah last tym when im planning to buy d90, most of the shop no stock. i bought mine on Challenger, they have lots of stock they say, because they're the one with Nikon during Comex Show. They're price is considered low. I got a lot of freebies from them.
sure or not... they quote me SGD1728 CASH when I say I am getting 5 sets
only free stuff is memory card... not even a bag...
my colleague say he got 1650 with a memory card (he only buy 1 set)
I really doubt challenger's price... (not challenging AT ALL)

Yeah, i got mine from challenger mini in Funan, in 2nd level. i pay for the D90 with Kit 18-105mm for 1720, they give me the following freebies:
1. 8gig class 4 Kingston SDHC
2. 4gig class 4 Kingston SDHC
3. Lowepro 190AW Rezo with Nikon Logo
4. Lens Filter (SteinZeiser)
5. Cleaning Kit (Very Small Blower)
6. Tripod (SteinZeiser)
7. Card Reader (Lexar)
I just bought last month almost closing time 7:00pm and im the only customer. Maybe, i just try to be very nice with the sales guy, then i tell him i only have 1700 budget and ask him if he can give me freebies. Because i tell him Harvey Norman (Tampines) also giving such kind of freebies but they dont have stock. So thats it, he ask his manager i think and got I it.. im very happy.
By the way, the sales person (1girl and 1guy) are very nice and attentive. They are the one who fix the filter and nikon strap for me. Quality service.

they do not event mention is under list of approved SD cards for D90 :bsmilie:

now everything make sense... i remember the challenger was 1 floor on top of John 316
new to dlsr...so i do not know whether this is a valid or stupid qns.
can we disbale the sound (shutter sound?) when we take pic? nt the af sound whihc i found in setting...
find that whn in restaurant or quite quiet place..when take pic...ple will look over..they seems irritated..

This is a mechanical sound, not a generated one, so I am afraid you have to put up with it and the D90 does not have a "quiet mode".
Maybe a tee-shirt or jacket over it will make it a little more quiet.
