People's Audio at Chinatown said can sell at $4000 if I recommend ppl over (check for stock first, they had stock last week). I bought at $4066 on first day of launch.

Could D800 users help me try this...

Shutter: BULB mode
Flash: Rear sync commander mode with onboard flash
Trigger: Remote cable

When I tried this, the flash went off TWICE, at the start and at the end of the bulb mode. Technically it should only go off when I close the shutter at the end since I set it to rear sync. Anyone encountering the same issue or know of any setting that I might have missed out? Did the same on D80 but no problem, only rear sync flash went off.

guys,

I am using Sandisk 95mb/sec 16gb sd card and sometimes my D800 will lock up for like 5 seconds or so with the card access light turned on.

I can't seem to nail down exactly when this happens as it only happens rarely. Usually after burst shooting and image review. Does this happen to anyone?

I am not sure if it is caused by the SD card... I don't have another fast card to test.

This is normal for when shots in raw files for heavy buffering.
Mine is the same, but not every time will be the happen.

Can bro's send (PM ) their Buy pricing to the MODS for addition into the 'good old' Nikon Price list for the D800 / D800E.... cheers ;)

ok so I guess it is not the SD card issue.

I shoot raw all the time but I usually only burst like 3 shots at a time. I think it occurs when I do two bursts in succession. Never notice such lock ups in my D700.

just read Dpreview and it seems that d800 has a huge issue with the sandisl 95mb/sec SD card :(

just wasted my $90...

Try to used CF

Try to used CF

I just bought a 16gb Sandisk Pro sd card. I decided to buy a fast SD card because I think SD card will be more useful all round. Can be used for my fuji X10.

Does it mean if I buy a fast CF card there will be zero lockups?

Somehow, the lockups can be quite long and I don't think the camera is clearing the buffer. Because normally when I shoot a burst of 3 shots, the buffer clears VERY fast. Occasionally I get stuck in some super slow card access which is weird.

Don't worried you're not only one to be the same problem.
For me already have fews times, all the issue is shots from raw files and used SD card only.
But when used on CF has no issue so far, but i was like used more on SD card, haha
Cause my MBA got SD Card slot.

I am using the same card, I shoot on fine quality jpeg format and sometimes I experience such issue as well and I didn't do burst shot. The frequency of such occurrence is quite low though, still can live with it lol

I tried Lexar 1000X 32GB CF card, same problem. It is the fastest card in the market already... so it should not be a card speed problem.

Nikon Service Center even changed my card reader in the cam before when I told them of the problem. It is random to me, doesn't happen during bursts but completely random, even when I am only taking 1 shot in every 3 to 5 seconds. Happens maybe once in a hundred+ shots. Last time the tech guy said it is normal. To me, random occurrence is not normal. Taking 5-10s to save 1 picture without any burst firing is not normal. Going down again today... (for the flash thingy I posted earlier)
