Im not sure mine case, i did not burst but happen to me 1 time where after taken the picture, cannot zoom in.
Then i go back the previous picture, no problem to zoom in.
The last picture took only can zoom in after awhile.
Look like this D800 still got some problem which Nikon do not discover it.

A slow card by today's standards but should be fast enough for that.

Got another 1 slow card Kingston Elite Pro 16GB 133x
Thinking to get another Sandisk SD 32GB 45mb/s

Same thing happened to me but only very occasionally...shooting raw plus jpeg at full reso on SanDisk 45mbps 16gb

Would you think for long term?
And invest more high speed to solve it 36mp of Raw problem?

I tried Lexar 1000X 32GB CF card, same problem. It is the fastest card in the market already... so it should not be a card speed problem.

Nikon Service Center even changed my card reader in the cam before when I told them of the problem. It is random to me, doesn't happen during bursts but completely random, even when I am only taking 1 shot in every 3 to 5 seconds. Happens maybe once in a hundred+ shots. Last time the tech guy said it is normal. To me, random occurrence is not normal. Taking 5-10s to save 1 picture without any burst firing is not normal. Going down again today... (for the flash thingy I posted earlier)

Thank for the info. I was thinking of getting the lexar

for long term need to invest more hdd hahahaha
I think i need to invest bigger memory card rather than high speed card, even i shoot raw for landscape,
im not burst but this only apply to me or maybe im wrong

Raw I keep, cause for my 4 yrs ago shots the Raw still works great. And some you saw my website is recent edit from Raw also.
From the Jpeg is not satisfied at all.

I rack up about 10+GB of RAWs every week (I don't shoot with a JPG copy). Usually keep them in internal HDD for quick reference, and in external HDD for backup. If I delete from internal HDD, will backup another copy on yet another HDD!

Anyway, I just came back from Nikon Service Center, with 2 unresolved problems. They said they'd get back to me again regarding these issues..

1) Occassional extremely slow writing speed
- Saving of picture takes 5 to 10 seconds in normal shooting (1 shot per few seconds at best).
- Completely random, happens maybe once in a hundred shots.
- Has not happened in burst firing before.
- Happens on both SD and CF card

2) Rear Sync Flash fires twice, at the start and end of exposure
- To test, set flash to REAR sync, and use bulb mode. For each exposure, the flash will fire twice. It should only fire when the shutter closes.
- NSC tried on their own sets and got the same problem

If you are getting the same symptoms, post here as well and see if we could get more clues to troubleshoot.

Must used external flash or can test with the build in flash ?
Havent try flash on this d800 yet

Happened on my onboard flash. Have not tried with external flash yet, as my external flashes are usually triggered wirelessly~

Ok will try it tonight see whether got the same problem or not ..
Sigh although this wont affect me but still unhappy with it
Hope nikon will come up with new firmware to solve all this problem

There is no such thing in the market. Your portable hdd is meant for USB even with adapter, it will only run on USB speed. You should have got the seagate model with thunderbolt interface 4 or 6tb, about $800+. Price has gone down quite a bit.

Got latest model call seagate backup plus. The adaptor can remove and plug in for Goflex thunderbolt adaptor price is USD $120.00

Is USB 3.0 not fast enough? I thought USB3.0 hdd should be more affordable (compared to thunderbolt hdd) and a lot faster than USB2.0 ones.
