And the cycle of waiting repeats.

 this almost applies to stock market... how much lower then i go in, etc ...
just get the camera that u need and be happy ( or dun be too upset when the next camera comes hopping by la )

Was at my Hall's talent time event and saw a friend snapping away happily with his D80 and a 70-200mm 2.8...

why with that "" look when ur friend shoots with D80 ?

i am still using a D80

woot. mine refuses to die. :bsmilie:

In UNI already la....Saved up quite abit also, so its not a problem...;)

i graduated from NTU, and i STILL could only get a DSLR after I graduated.

i was given an allowance, after deducting overheads that i pay for my household, 100 bucks for an entire month. i sure as hell cant save up to get a D700 like you.

and i wonder what you are getting a month for allowance.

to me, you are mr ASK nontheless...

*ok i am just sore about the fact i am Mr Poor.

back on topic:

i mean, come on. does it matter if the D700 comes out with a successor the moment you get it? to me, it doesnt, as i am sure that when the successor comes out, price is going to be a premium. i am willing to pay 3200 for a brand new piece now. and i am sure as hell not willing to get a D700x or whatever name that new cam is, at any price more then that. and to wait for the price of the successor to drop to 3200, its going to be another 15 months or so.

i will rather buy it now. differences are not going to be a lot. D700 is already a kick ass camera. i would have gotten the D700, if not for the fact that i am toying with the idea of getting rid of all my stuff, since i am using them once a month... hmmm.

Actually I'm not too sure about that too...Probably D700 prices takes another plunge when a replacement model is announced? Either way, I'm without any gear for the time being so it gives me great flexibility to decide....

Anyway, I pulled the plug a day ago and got the D700 + 50mm F1.8 from John 3:16....Loving every moment I'm having with the Cam! Now I'm thinking of the 14-24.....

Anyway, congrats to your purchase.

i've learnt my lesson on the D300s (in fact, especially a couple more 1st time releases).. i will wait to pounce on this kick ass cam or even others.

i tell myself if i don't click more than 15k or more a year, i have no reason/justification to get a new one. 2nd/used market is more for me.. less depreciation or "rental" for me to take.. it certainly feels good to have a nice equipment in your hands but as long as you have the dough.. let's not forget besides the body there is still this quest for the legendary lenses!!

They did get me into the 5D MK2 or D700 or even 7D analysis paralysis situation for a while but the better AF and built in flash that can occasionally be used as a fill flash kinda won me over...But I have to say the 5D MK2 is an amazing camera...More MP's, Video in HD, awesome high ISO performance.....
