i graduated from NTU, and i STILL could only get a DSLR after I graduated.
i was given an allowance, after deducting overheads that i pay for my household, 100 bucks for an entire month. i sure as hell cant save up to get a D700 like you.
and i wonder what you are getting a month for allowance.
to me, you are mr ASK nontheless...
*ok i am just sore about the fact i am Mr Poor.
back on topic:
i mean, come on. does it matter if the D700 comes out with a successor the moment you get it? to me, it doesnt, as i am sure that when the successor comes out, price is going to be a premium. i am willing to pay 3200 for a brand new piece now. and i am sure as hell not willing to get a D700x or whatever name that new cam is, at any price more then that. and to wait for the price of the successor to drop to 3200, its going to be another 15 months or so.
i will rather buy it now. differences are not going to be a lot. D700 is already a kick ass camera. i would have gotten the D700, if not for the fact that i am toying with the idea of getting rid of all my stuff, since i am using them once a month... hmmm.
