Looking in 50mm 1.4 or 1.8.. Hehe..

Go for 1.8? I believe some bros did mentioned that diff between iq of 1.4 n 1.8 is not worth the diff in $.

I'm using an SB-400 for macro but the same theory applies, you can PM me yr number and I can inform you if we have an outing.

^Pmed :)

Yes go for the 50mm 1.8 Its a great lens, good price too!

Any idea if I get 17-55 NIKON from HongKong or Usa cheaper ? I still able to get local Sg warranty rite.

My bro -in-law bought the mb-d11 grip for RM470/S$190 as compared to $260 @ MSC. No local warranty though.

Before concluding, please understand the difference betw. F/1.8 and F/1.4.
Besides IQ, while not necessary be the same betw. 2 lens, there are others aspect and qualities that are different.

Hi Cowseye! Care to enlighten us? I'm still a noob in dslr so it will be really helpful if u can teach us how to appreciate the differences. :)

I'm not an expert too, but to name a few: the thin depth of field is not what a 50mm F/1.8 can produce compare to any 50mm F/1.4. The quality of blur (bokeh) is different. The bokeh of a sigma 50mm F/1.4 is known to be quite a cream machine.

Other technical details are beyond me to explain, but note that all these are just factors to consider. Other factors are, cost, weight, brand, warranty, lens handling, etc etc....

Hi guys, I am new totally new to this photography hobby... I just got myself a D7k. Cant seem to figure out how come by using the CH mode, it doesnt continuously snap pictures... in fact... its like laggy...

Hold down the button. On digital cameras you click the button in burst mode, it just snaps the specific number of frames. But on a DSLR, to give more control, you have to hold it down. When you want it to stop, just release. It's sure to get latch after a while, Coz the speed at which files are processed and transferred is too slow. If you wanna avoid the lag, get a memory card with faster speed. Some cards write 15Mb/s, 30Mb/s, 45Mb/s. Others write class 2, 4, 6, 8, 10. You can find a list of the class converted to speed in the developers' website. Do note that class 4 on a SanDisk card doesn't means class 4 on a Kingston too. Different developers have different speeds.

Anyway, welcome to the D7000 family. May the BBB virus be with you

Really thks for your prompt response and also your advice on the mem speed. However, for my case, it snaps only once. what other settings could i have to config? cannot be spoilt huh? cos i just owned it for a day.

Did you turn the dial to Ch? If not then maybe it's really spoilt. Manufacturing faults happen often in DSLRs. But there's a warranty anyway so you can bring it down to NSC. Still, though, wait for others' comments first. What shutter speed did you shoot it at btw? Can't set to 5sec shutter speed and expect to see 6 fps of course

there's a setting under menus that defines the number of shots done under CH and CL. Check that?

Did you check the menu setting setting for CH? See if the fps is accidentally set too low

menu item d7: Max continuous release
range is from 1 - 100
