I believe the grip for D7000 is the MB-D11... I got it for S$260 recently as well.

Original grip now is so expensive?

It is from the start. I was quite surprised when I saw 3rd party $110 only. I've done a few minutes of research and the difference is the build quality. Also 3rd party no weather sealing and the back dial is flipped. Not like we have FPS to lose anyway, and rain come just remove the grip.

No it wasn't from the start. As holidaydom said, it's still $260 now

Maybe I remembered wrongly. But I remember a time when stocks were rare. Is it still as rare?

Not sure about now, I didn't check up on the grip ever since I've gotten it.

I've been using a 3rd party for like 5-6 mth, so far so good, before and after the firmware update (some say bg will fail after update)

Other then material and weather sealing. I see not much different haha.

And its half the price.

I intend to get a telephoto len. Was looking at the 70-300mm VR when I stumbled on the 80-200mm F2.8 ED, which cost twice as much. Googled on this len and it looks impressive for that price range. Anyone uses this len with a crop sensor? Please share your views. Cheers

Are you looking at the two-ring version? The lens is an impressive lens. It's reasonably sharp even when used wide-open. On my D7000, it tends to backfocus a little on the longer focal length when focusing near the MFD (as explained in the 80-200 manual), but it's not a problem unless you pixel-peep
