Nikon announced to pause D700's production to go back to the beginning to repair and fix problems, bugs, and machine errors - such as -

Defective sensor, fails to deliver results without blown highlights at minimum aperture at low ISO, CF door are very fragile, focusing screen is slightly misplaced, AF points will not be able to move around in CL / CH mode, Auto WB (White Balance) fails to change the color temperature when SB-900 have a color temperature filter attached (SB-900 reads the filter to send information to D3-Series / D700 to adjust the white balance), D700's popup flash is not working properly for Nikon Creative Lighting System as the master flash, high ISO banding appears after ISO 800, short battery life (expects to have at least 1,500 shots per charge but it dies after 250 shots), LiveView have wrong shooting modes (It have to be switched - Tripod Mode is Handheld Mode, Handheld Mode is Tripod Mode), AI ring (for manual focus lenses) is too tight, D700's popup flash menu doesn't include "M" (manual flash input), fails to write RAW data onto card (XMP), lens mount is fragile, does not recognize MB-D10 attached, hot / dead pixels occur at higher ISO's, and AF-C tends to back-focus slightly.

holly! is this real?

I've yet try the more advance functions. must wait until evening (now working) then can try those so called problems... unless I bring my camera to the toilet to test :bsmilie:

Come on ... that fellow on YouTube :bsmilie:

He's better known as A.K.A. Darth Vadar II :bsmilie:

 why u need to test in toilet?:bsmilie:

because now working hour and it will not be proper to draw my camera out and start bursting away in front of my bosses  so the only way to test is to secretly put my camera in a plastic bag and go to the staff toilet to try :bsmilie: but if my staff saw me snapping in the toilet what will they think of me

lol that guy on youtube.. the one that microwave and drop d3 one? plus splatter yoghurt all over it? a joker i must say

yeah, just saw the thread over at dp forum. :bsmilie:

just saw the post over at dp forum about the CF card door as well :(

for those who are still pondering how the CF card door feels like... well the closely thing I can relate to : it feels like the latch of the battery door on your SB-800/600 :(

someone in dpreview forums highlighting issue on suspected banding at high iso.

no lah, different plastic, feels more like the SD card door on the D80, but bigger

On my D70 or D2X the door opens with a "tug" feel. The D700 opens like "piak" sounds

or like Japanese car door vs Conti car door :bsmilie:

Another would be a 100% viewfinder, or lack of.

They put one in a D300 and remove it for the D700? By golly, if not for this I would have bought the D700.
in liveview, D700 is 100%, in viewfinder it's 95% due to the anti-dust mechanism. I think this is not a very big issue unless you are a commercial photographer specialising in maco photography.

Are you sure?? What has the anti-dust mechanism got to do with the viewfinder? It's 95% coverage because it's not a pro body so that the operators don't have to do such a precise alignment of the frame in the viewfinder to the sensor. It has been this way since the film days. Did they put a 100% VF in D300?

It's a small disappointment that the D700 has only a 95% VF. For those thinking of buying the D700, well... just console yourself that it's better than 94% VF. If you really need 100% VF on FX, you are only left with the D3 now.

Yes. The compromise on the D700 VF is indeed due to the dust removal system, if the engineer at Nikon France were to be believed.

Nothing is perfect. Be it cameras, hi-fi, F1 cars, etc.

Yes, they could have build a slightly bigger body but like ortega mentioned somewhere earlier, "if it was flawless, would they be able to sell you another one later?"

We just have to overcome whatever shortcomings and move on.

Hmm.. the video is in a not easily understandable language for me... ;p
It's hard to believe because we know in the past only single digit F bodies have 100% VF, so I guess the anti-dust is just an excuse because that's what lacking in the D3.

The alignment accuracy is a more likely reason to have only a 95% VF.

ha ha those thinking of buying the D700 - one advice... just swipe that plastic or fork out yer cash. :bsmilie:

It's worth it just for the FX and the high ISO performance period.

But it's going to be like buying a Ferrari but the bonnet is made in China kind of quality, the safety belt is kinda too thin, and your left hand can't reach the radio knobs, and the windscreen is a little smaller. other wise it's still a Ferrari with few hundred horse power and your nearest rival is miles behind, the bloke who spend 1/4 more than you is just in front of you running the same engine with a bigger windscreen :bsmilie:

Would you believed an Ang Mo when he tells his friends or the world that Singapore is a City in China. I never believe even 50% of what is circulating in the internet esp youtube.

If the D700 have problem as stated in the video I be the first to complain as it will affect by work and income. So far the D700 has not failed me since last week, jobs done invoiced and waiting for $. And D700 still working for me :)
