i sort of browse through some of the pics posted in the link by TS.

do you think the photog used auto iso or for every shot before he fires, he sets his iso?

if D3 is really that good in noise reduction, does that mean if i get one, i can set to limit the iso to 6400 and fire away in low light condition?

also, is it because the pics are resize for web browsing hence even if there's noise it wont be that visible?

enlighten me a little please.

i don't think he uses auto ISO (does the D3 have auto iso?)
there is noise, but the noise is very nice noise
resize for web my d80 noise also cannot see :)

what is the criteria for j-sponsorship?

did he just said D300 is $1600 (USD)?... that would make it abt $2500SGD. :devil:

expected mah... since it's replacing d200. the d200 local street price was ard there too.

so far, no sample pics from d300 eh? apart from the obvious reason of D3, i thot neekon will be releasing d300 sample pics too? i'm sure there are plenty of nikonians waiting for the d300 too. :think:

I think most would expect it to be close to the 3k mark for the spec

I have the impression that Nikon is only passing out the D3 to pro photographers for review. That's why we are only seeing D3's photo floating around in the internet.

Yes it does.

if it has auto iso, and i limit to 6400, will my series of pics generally look 'different' as the shots will be of diff iso?
i mean....iso100 and 6400, definitely can see the difference no matter how good the noise control is right?:dunno:

Correct. Auto ISO is primarily there for situations whereby maintaining a certain shutter speed and/or aperture are of more important consequence than maintaining the same "look".

For instance, you might have varying light conditions (sun dipping behind the clouds), and you're shooting fast action sports for example, and you'd rather have a picture at a higher ISO with the motion frozen, than a blurred picture at ISO 100 that's not really worth keeping.

The good thing is the colour consistancy is pretty good across the ISO range on Nikon cameras. The colour seems good at iso6400 on the D3. IMO, you probably have to look at the originals to find the difference or deliberately scrutinise the photos to find the difference.

WOAH :bigeyes: do you actually sleep?

I think he knows, which is probably why he's surprised given it's silly hours... I'm a bit nocturnal. Besides, I got back from the Chelski game at about midnight, need to unwind.

How many lens does this guy bring to the wedding??? :confused:

50/1.4
70-200/2.8 VR
14-24/2.8
24-70/2.8
85/1.4

He either has more than 1 D3 body or he can change lens damn fast... :o

@cichlid
you're most welcome
it is my current fav free flash tutorial on the net

@nightwolf75 & TMC
when we were on the store, we bounced the SB400 to ceiling 3.5m high, use the light to take half body shoot about 2m away. the result from SB400 bounced is harsher than SB800 bounced in the same condtion. the difference is minimal but it is visible. higher ceiling might give you different result. i don't like direct flash and always avoid it anyway i can therefore i also find SB400's lack of rotating capability quite limiting for me.

Because.. =.= SB-800 Zoom, Sb-400 none. Sb-800 closer to ceiling, Sb-400 further. =.=

And anyway, I have used SB-400 to cover one camera company's dinner and dance. (and crap, I over-stressed the Sb-400 till it died so I'm back to Sb-800 now :angry:)

good enlightening explaination :thumbsup:
thanks :D

my sympathy for your SB400 hope can get it fixed soon
