you? dun need anymore lens liao.

My dream FX lens combination would be 24-70 f/2.8, 85mm f/1.4, 105mm f/2.8 VR or 105 f/2 DC, and maybe 200mm f2 VR or 70-200mm f/2.8 VR.

amazing result from the iso 6400 hmmmm

@Blurrblurr

i think even in D3's outstanding high iso performance,
Cliff Mautner probably still use flash in most of the pict there for fill-in
and we should need flash too for the same purpose.

that is why sb400 is the in thing now :bsmilie:

I think the very clean high ISO is a big plus for wedding banquets and church weddings! No flash needed!! :bigeyes: I think the temptation is getting stronger... I don't think there is a need to wait for a noisier higher MP count D3X anymore... 12mp should be sufficient!! :lovegrin:

But .... he said is edited. :bheart::what:

What edited?

In case anyone was wondering, I'm unable to post full rez files until after Photoplus and these files were absolutely STRAIGHT OUT OF CAMERA!!!! In addition, there is no software to open NEF(RAW) files yet so these are all JPG's with absolutely nothing done to them besides a reduction in file size for the web. Most images were captured with auto white balance.

Mostly looks like ambient lighting to me. I shoot ambient lighting most of the time, so roughly should be able to tell if a fill flash was used.

Dun look like flash is being used. Even so I think a basic SB400 will be enough.
Really wonder what photography will become when the day ISO 3200000 with no visible noise on a entry level camera. Imagine everyone simply just pick up a camera and shoot a beautiful without handshake!

Clean High ISO image and good resolution of "details" ... To be frank i rmb last time i will only get wow by the clean ISO from the other camp but don't remember seeing this kind of quality i am looking at now ...

Gd job
:thumbsup:

Here is a good link about flash from neil van nierkek, pro wedding photographer
http://planetneil.com/faq/flash-techniques.html

in this case SB400 probably will be less usefull due to inflexibility and it flash headsize (too small)

i tried SB400 for light flash for my wife,
she didn't like the hash result from SB400 when bounced and prefer to use our old & bulky SB800.

i suppose, SB400 wouldn't qualify for more serious photographer that using D3.

actually, sb400 does work pretty well, even on a pro body. it's small and handy for those situations where just a little fill-light will do. for the hell of it, i actually used it to cover the dec 06 Mega CS event at suntec. ;p

i just hope the d3 prices will drop and stablise in time for me to get b4 my fren's wedding next nov... :sweat:

that is your perception that sb400 is inadequate then. you are telling me that an Sb400 when bounced is harsher than an sb800 under the same conditions? also not every occasion requires a flash of sb800`s capabilities

@cichlid
you're most welcome
it is my current fav free flash tutorial on the net

@nightwolf75 & TMC
when we were on the store, we bounced the SB400 to ceiling 3.5m high, use the light to take half body shoot about 2m away. the result from SB400 bounced is harsher than SB800 bounced in the same condtion. the difference is minimal but it is visible. higher ceiling might give you different result. i don't like direct flash and always avoid it anyway i can therefore i also find SB400's lack of rotating capability quite limiting for me.
