how does a cropped lens affect iso performance?

Here are some shots taken this morning at the marathon. All at ISO 800 f2.8
1st Place Men's Open Marathon
2nd Place Men's Open Marathon
2nd Place Singapore Women's Marathon (my wife - congrats on great run and new PB)
Noise control at ISO 800 is fantastic. Also, the 51pt 3D focus-tracking worked amazingly well, virtually every shot in focus. Much much better than D2X.

i love the 14-24.
it doesnt allow a front filter.the front cover is actually a big rubbery tupperware cap!

Congrats to your wife on getting 2nd place.
I got my D3 and 24-70mm on november 29th and my wife suprised me with another D3 the next day:bsmilie:

nikon has improved the batt life for D3.
i had 4 batts.
but yesterday for a shoot lasting from 9am to 6pm, i only used up one batt and it still has 2 bars on the indicator!
with my d200, i would definitely be on my 2nd or 3rd batt by 6pm in comparison.
but, these d3 batts are much bigger and heavier so i reckon they can last longer.

Maybe you are allergic to your new 24-70mm lens. I could help you out by taking off your hands for a good price

eh actually, its:
2 Nikon D3.
AFS 24-70mm 2.8G,
AFS 70-200 F2.8G VR white
AF 28mm F1.4D,
AFS 200mm F2.0G VR
AFS-28-70 F2.8D white
and Its shot with 5D and EF 50mm F1.0L at F4 1/125 sorry no 1Ds MKIII yet.
it's very badly under exposed cos there was no lighting,save for 1 fluorescent tube lamp they placed on the floor.the MC requested no flash n in the end,among the CSers,i was the only one left shooting...As for OOF,no 5 was where i was 1st located.but the bg lights were a bit too strong for me so i shifted to the left.but the ramp blocked my view n i have to wait till they were in the air b4 i can start track n shoot.
so all i can do was to bump my ISO to 6400,F2.8,1/200 n prayed..
i kind of like no 5.thanks to 1 of the stunt guy who took out 2 flashguns mounted on 1 stand each on left n right of the ramp + radio rec.

you need help to wear the grip in abit... can volunteer ;p
after a few more days of usage... i must say that the focusing points while plentiful in the middle are not present at the edges and this makes framing abit of a pain in the butt...
for wasabi... the ISO doesnt really seem to be affected by the fact that a dx lens is used... at least not for the few shots that i took... however due to the fact that it's pixels are reduced to about 5.. cropping the image to hundred percent is not reccommeded as the image quality seems to deteriorate at that point... other fellow D3 users can comment on this as i only have the 18-200 for DX lenses.
