I am using one now...But I don't think I want to use it at home though because it uses PC to power and access, it is more suitable in office environment where my PC is switches on most of the time.......another advice from me is to keep a copy of the OS disc and the storage driver disc seperately because if the storage or PC itself conk, you will not be able to retrieve any disc inside and there is no manual eject unless you break open the case :(

Ps: Mine can store 100 discs

Actually,

I've done a test on the disk-stacker unit before and it really sucks. It's only a storage unit with indexing function only. And you still have to label each and every disc manually on the PC itself.

In the end, we returned the unit as we would be really taxed if we had to index all the CDs we have on hand.

Cheers,

Well it depends, for me I find it quite useful becoz I always misplace my software installation disc and can't do anything when in urgent need? Considering it priced at slightly more than $200.....I can live with the manual part, it's a one time effort anyway  Don't foget you can stack up another unit quite effortlessly to have combine storage....it says can stack up to 4 units but I wonder who have done that

Well, I believe others will always have a copy of the s/w you need, just borrow and return lor, I misplace my s/w discs v often also until that I keep a image of all the discs on my HDD. Hee.

at home OK lah....in office we have dozens of softwares plus those stupid service patches etc etc....also considering I might need to go to diff network and diff floor for support....harddisk is still not very practical leh

Then you better buy a few and treat us to them.... :bsmilie:

According to the website, and Thom Hogan (under his news section -> http://www.bythom.com/), it's "an addition", not a replacement ...

If it is cheaper than a D200 and incorporates both the Multi-CAM 1000 autofocus system and 3-D Matrix Metering II of the D200 (same as in the D2x), then it will be a great buy. These 2 features are what I find the strongest arguments to acquire the D200, the metering particularly is fantastic, far more accurate. It's far superior to the D70s' metering, it is quite striking. Of course, the D200 deserves the best lenses to appreciate the difference. (For D200 users, here's a very good new article about the Multi-CAM 1000 autofocus system -> http://www.nikonians.org/nikon/d200_multi-cam_af/)

Speculation in some forums, however, is that it will be scaled down versions of these 2 features, but still better than none.

At any rate, just a few days more to find out :)
