If it comes with VR, i think it would be sweet. To compete with A100, Nikon need to give nikonian a bit more. Sony really spoilt the market with 1499 price tag, now it is up to Canon and Nikon to counterstrike, fast.

Not really. Body alone: S$1499, +18-70:S$1799, +70-300 + some bag:S$2099 All c/w 1GB MS Duo (the camera defaults ships with a MS->CF adaptor).

I'm sure others can find a D70s at the price... The D80/D90 should be around the same price or cheaper...

I dun think it works that way.

Between Sony and Nikon, it is the entire system that you're in, not just a camera. For most of us, be it Canon, Nikon or other, as soon as we are in, we are more or less married to it already. After that, it would be a painful process to divorce, painful especially to the pocket and got to learn and adapt to the new system.

Of course, there are exceptions around, some folks change system like changing GF, but I know there are genuinely few.
