I din notice any difficulty with the buttons. I guess that is subjective. As for the wheel, i prefer 2 top wheels versus one top wheel and one back panel wheel. I must admit that this camera, in my opinion, is prob the most perfect camera around.

Well i guess focus peaking is smthg that this camera does not have. Although i have experienced tat in the ricoh, but i hv not done a comparison to see if it really gives more accuracy compared to a highres evf.

Why do you need ISO 50? Is the lowest ISO not clean enuff?

Oh one more thing that the OM-D does not hv is 1/8000 s shutter speed.

I played with focus peaking on a few cameras, and I can't bring myself to trust it. I'd rather just magnify the image and focus manually even if it takes me time

Focus peaking is useful for manual lenses especially the bright tele primes. So far nex has best implementation imo. Even with high res of EVF on pen, i think FP will help.
I had used EPL2 and P3 which has minimum iso200, it seems to give some hot pixels rather easily after several long exposure. Although noise is ok even with ISO 200, the hot pixels are not. EPL1 seems to be better as I use ISO 100, I am not sure if ISO100 is the reason for less susceptibility to hot pixels. And ISO 50 is 2 stops slower than ISO200, which can be really useful for slow shutter shots (like landscape without use of ND filter). Was hoping to have built in ND filter like Fujifilm X100, though I'm not sure how well implemented that is. 1/8000s probably not needed if they have iso50:) I can leave without the lower DR at iso 50/100 as I can use GND or bracketing to counter that, but I feel Oly is going a step backwards with this. Just my opinion. Apart from this, I do agree the camera is a notch above EP3 in many aspects. Looking forward to a hands-on session soon:)

+1

I haven't used focus peaking long enough though

Have you tried on Nex with EVF? It's very good, for me, better than GXR as the EVF is far from excellent. If there's a better EVF, i would grab it:)

For AF lenses, FP is not really needed, except maybe macro shots?

Tried it with the 24/1.8 today on the NEX 7 and I think it's a bit of a hit and miss sometimes. I think the issue is the depth of field of the given lens and the resolution of the sensor.

Not sure about other stores, but for Courts (Olympus booth), they said that there is only black lens. Which means even if you buy silver body, it will be black lens.
I can live with that. ;)

But here the silver one comes with the 12-50 in black !
Silver body w black lens doesnt look too bad. But the reverse a bit hard to swallow -_-||

Anyone know which shop is offering for $1700?

I was playing around with the AF by poking the screen to focus at out of focus point...love this feature...it is very very fast...exactly like point and shoot...no delay at all...however, as i did not bring my own card to save the images, i cannot tell if the images are sharp. Will test again with 4/3 lens and see how different it will be

Love the colour, image quality, usable image at high iso (at 6400, it is good enough for me) , build of the camera, small size, weight (I am mid size fellow), placement of buttons/dials

A bit sian, have to preset 1 button for ISO (which should not be the case as it is a very often used feature)

Sian, cannot keep the screen..worried that it will get scratched

Sian, lens don't come with lens hood...optional accessory

Sian, no free battery...need 2 to travel for peace of mind

1st time playing with m4/3 thoroughly so will find certain features not achievable in E5 amazing...as compared to current pen users.

Nevertheless, credit card half way out of wallet already...pocket ready to be burnt...big time :>

Like I said, it has never been verified that focus peaking is actually accurate. It seems like a nice feature for manual focusing and the EVF or the LCD is not high resolution enough to see if the image is in focus.

I think there are 3 buttons available for you to preset. You only need to preset once these buttons to your liking.

Just get a freaking screen saver. I have more than 12 cameras and on my E5 and E3, I have never stowed my screen so that the plastic faces out. I have never scratched my LCD before with screen protectors on. I dun even see the issue here.

Buy a hood if you want.

Buy a second battery!!

Actually, focus peaking works WITH magnification, so after you magnify, you just turn until you see some peaking in the magnified area. It greatly simplifies magnified focusing. Better with fast mid to telephoto primes. The 24 1.8, which I have, tends to have a lot of things in focus.

This feature has been around on the Panasonic G series since the GH2 I think. Olympus finally added this feature.

Since the G2.. the G2 was the first with touch screen... touch focus and touch shutter..

Always felt it funny that people say Olympus is known for innovation, but Panasonic has been running ahead of Olympus since the GF1 but most don't notice. :bsmilie:

One shop in peninsula quote me $18xx with 50% deposit. Another in Funan quoted $17xx in cash, no deposit required.
