I don't understand why, people dislike friendly threads. We can't be talking 24/7 about Canon 450D. If this thread was so boring, it would have been removed and the Pictures thread wouldn't be doing so well either. Cheer up bro. Be happy :)

been browsing the pages on this thread, i think e OT shows you guys are a bunch of friendly peeps! :) (tho it may go against rules la). oh well.

btw, hi everyone~ i'm using the 450D also~ will start posting qns and hope to learn from everyone here!!

am currently contemplating getting the tammy 17-50 & a 55-250 as these 2 will be my first upgrade of lenses from my kit lens. think alot of threads had been started IRT these 2 lenses. i just hope i'll not get a dud or with the back, front focusing problem.

was sooooo swayed to get the canon 17-55 but just can't justify spending that amount of $ although can bite bullet and go with credit card installment.

I think that its not really advisable to pay by credit card installment unless you really have to.

17-50mm is pretty close to 17-55mm with some exception on the availability of VR (or in other words IS for Canon) etc. Price wise, needless to say, near 50% difference. I guess anyone on tight budget should be considering this factor as their first priority.

I just got the Tamron 17-50 and it is really nice! Personally, I don't think it is a good idea to bite the bullet and go with the 17-55.

The photos posted here are taken with my Tamron 17-50. :)

Sorry for asking. What is the purpose of 17-50 lens? I till now don't know what is it all about.

woah thanks for all the warm welcome & replies guys! (was afraid i'll be blasted for asking something that's often been discussed on forum)

hi jlkk: i've been pretty impressed by the sharpness and ability to use under low light. it'll come handy in occasions when i shoot during gatherings/events indoor? sometimes flash is either too cumbersome to bring or not too polite to be using them.

but with that said, its because i like my kit lens range that i started looking around for zoom lens within this range too and found this 17-50/55 range to consider. oh, forgot to mention, i do have the 50 f1.8 but i need to really work on this, not used to a fix range as compared to a zoom lens. i also lovee taking wide shots/landscape. but there were times i missed quite a few shots because i didn't have a tele lens!! can be quite frustrating. thus also considering the 55-250 and its a cheap lens!

oh, haa, saw ur v-day shoot gathering, interesting theme also :bsmilie: i might be buying my lens on sat leh!

yoh: yeah i wld guess so, think i'll get the tammy and further improve skills and upgrade to the canon next time maybe together with the body! i'm just a bit worried if i'll miss my IS from my kit lens when i changed to tammy, but anyway, i'll be keeping my kit as a backup, so.. *cross fingers* i'll improve on my handling techniques! ;)

f/2.8 should be able to give you relatively good shutter speed. ;)

do you guys notice any softness or blur in images when its blown up 100%?
my shutter was at 1/250. but i forgot whether i shot with manual focus or auto.

and, are there any servicing that needs to be done for 450d?

yeah, that shld "compensate" hopefully! not sure how often/true on the "difficulty in low light AF" for the tammy that users had been complaining about, hopefully its not going be THAT bad.
