5) 8.2m compare to 6m on 10D, typically more nosie will be genrated for same sensor size. In this case, have to wait and see.

U can't really conclude that based on the spec and there are not enough sample to show that 20D pix is more noisy. I am sure Canon will do something to counter the noise issue.

Therotically, higher pixel density will produce more noise, but do you remember that when the resolution of D30 doubled to 6MP in D60/10D, the latter actually have lesser noise?

6) AF @ -0.5EV, using same AF sensor as 1 series? does that means it can AF @ less than f5.6? Are all 9 AF point has the same capability to AF @ -0.5EV or only the centre AF?

7) The flash seems to be focus on DSLR with 1.3 or 1.6 x. So can I say the performance will be worse when it is used with full frame DSLR or film camera?

Just thinking out loud.

on dpreview, they said that there's a kit that comes with the 18-55 EF-S lens... hmmm...

After reading the Askey review and the ample images provided, I couldn't help but feel that the exterior design of the camera bore more resemblance to the D30/60 series than the 10D.

The chunky raised fashion of the rear LCD and surrounding buttons reminded me of the Sigma SD9/10.

I prefer the design of the 10D, actually. Everything looks very smoothly finished and blended.

The BG-ED2 grip looked like it was added as an afterthought and didn't blend into the curves of the 20D. Note the corner below the rubber cover for the USB, remote release port etc.

The grip seems as angular as before and as uncomfortable as the BG-ED3, likely a design compromise to suit the BP-51x series of batteries, its not as curvy as it should be for comfort.

The other question is whether would the 580EX flash can still be used with EX series film cameras like the EOS 30v, EOS 3, EOS 1v. This part still remains to be seen.

Let's all hope for the best....

Wouldn't it be cool if the EOS 1D Mk II had that function as well? :D

Ans: NAH!!!!!!

Very soon we can do equivalent of PS CS on the 70D! :bsmilie:

R32, I think you better not hot link the pix from dpreview here. Anyway, I think 20D looks more like 10D than D30/60 leh

D30/60 are more "squarish" and bulky but 10D more rounded and refined. now 20D is even more rounded and slimmed down somemore. The 3 buttons above the top LCD also same as 10D, and also the timer light, mode dial, also looks like 10D.

For the vertical grip, of cos an integrated one like 1D series are the best, but better than don't have right, especially it can accept AA batteries.

the flash looks interesting!

they should have make the flash usable for the older models as well, right? is that another marketing tactic to dump the olders cameras?

Read!

One new function is the expanded range of the AF-assist beam, compatible with all EOS AF cameras, including the EOS 20D

slurp..... very exciting.... :rbounce:

can anyone sponsor me the moolah?? :p :D

anyway, there are indeed many nice improvements over the 10D

it would be cool if MKII has a more affordable price....at least not 3 times as much as 20D lar :(

I think it is more value for $$ to get an used 1D for wide/action/event and 20D for tele/travel/backup or work that need high res.

1D + 20D still cheaper than a MKII  and still got $ left over to get another L lens

Wai, u've been following this 20D thing for quite a while huh.... u gonna make that purchase eh?

Slimmed down is right, rounded I would feel not, around the flash housing area, the 10D is very smoothly curved. Yeah definitely button layout is taken from the 10D, and I didn't say the 20D had a control layout similar to the D30/60, but shapewise I was left feeling like the 20D wasn't as smoothly done as the 10D was; I looked at the comparison images on this page of DPreview:

http://www.dpreview.com/articles/canoneos20d/page4.asp

But then, the 20D's controls are further evolved from the 10D also.

nope, I just like to look at spec sheet and make comparison with other models, it is my full time job anyway.

Then i will forward the findings that i have gathered to my friends including you all, to make u all gian so that you all will switch camp and buy buy buy :bsmilie:

For me, I will hold on to my 1D for a few more years, it is sufficient for my work now..

Can't wait to see what other brands have to offer.... :D

In that case, do tell what would happen to the 300D. EOL?

i doubt so too. i think the 300D will still be popular and ard for a while longer becos there will always be beginners in DSLR. in its own right, the 300D is a good cam for its price range. yes, FOR ITS PRICE!! u do get wat u pay for, after all! :bsmilie:

however, as reflected in the B&S here, used 300D prices will drop a lot, since the 10D will be flooding the used mkt now. new 300D, hmm... mebbe will drop a bit too. guess we all have to wait and see abt the recommended retail price from canon of 20D?

[/SIZE]

I know, I have influenced quite a number of CSer in their purchase decision all these years, too bad i don't earn commission for that....lol ;p

But I would be happy if they offer to let me have a hands on with the camera as soon as possible, so that I can give more feedback to you all :D

Sometimes you only wish people would talk about photography(pictures) as passionate as they talk about some high-tech-do-it-all-droolable-basically the same camera- upgrade at all cost, gear.
It's important to let newbies know that you don't need the newest, best whatever camera to do what basically can be done with a puny D30/60. It sets out all the wrong messages down the line.
The experts should know that and teach that.
