as it is, i'm already seeing a $2k body on another forum board just now.

still, it all fairness, the 10D is still a very capable camera. i'm serious considering getting one, once the price drops below $2k (new or otherwise).
yap, totally agree with you. it's a toss up between a 2nd hand 10D or a 20D for me. Cost is a factor, i rather invest in lenses (like a 300 F2.8:))than a body esp when the next upgrade will always be around the corner. eventual aim is to get a full frame body.

I think I'll wait for the eos 25d.. heh

need 1.3x crop. (maybe EFS can work with 1.3x crop and not 1.6x crop as well?) then the EFS 10-22 is like effective 13mm rectilinear... even better than a sigma 12-24 x 1.3 effective 15.6

raw buffer of 6?? that's crap, unless the lexar WA is supported and the flush to cf speed is like 2 RAW/second..
I'm not sure if the 1.3x crop can use it eventually... Look, from Canon's pricing, you can see their intention: the 1.3x is for the pros. Why would they put a lens that is meant for the lower consumer range there?

I agree the 6 RAW buffer was a surprise. I would have expected 9 or 12

keep the 300D use it with the new EFS lenses!!!!

In that case, do tell what would happen to the 300D. EOL?
likdat....canon will be knocking heir own head on teh 300Ds... coz the price will be so cheap that primary school kids can buy....

I think all other manufacturers are going to have a big headache trying to price their yet to release DSLRs. :D

Why hasn't Canon come up with a solution to deal with dust on the sensor?

hahahaahahaa..... there'll be a lot of cheap DSLR for sale soon on CS, like erwinx said before Canon 2nd hand market is very good!

This 20D is a real backup! Definately wanna get one!

i already bought my D70 liao

This fits Canon's product and sale pattern perfectly. After all, see what happens to the D60 when 10D arrived? At that price, they would be better of EOLing 300D and switch over to produce 20D.

eh...i don't know if this was mentioned but i noticed at Dpreview, at http://www.dpreview.com/articles/canoneos20d/page4.asp, the test picture under LCD Monitor is a picture of Boat Quay/Clarke Quay with the MITA building in it...hmmm..they tested this cam in Singapore ?
He tested. Phil, IIRC married a singaporean. He frequents Singapore and the last time, wasn't a Minolta camera tested here as well?

May be Phil Askey is walking along orchard road now with a 20D engineering sample

he works partly from singapore since the wife is from singapore too right. :)

There AF Assist button (ie the 3rd button that 10D has on the top right corner) is missing from the 20D.

1) Cant bring AF to the centre @ a press of the button.

2) Does that means you can do FEL if you have set the AF to the AE (*)button?

You gain some, you loose some. But perhaps you gain more than you lose in this case.

3) Both the 50mm std lens (f1.4 & 1.8) dont have distant feedback capability, hence no ETTL-2 for this 2 lens and a few others. Maybe canon should look into this issue before coming out with the 2 new EFS lens.

4) The ability to use AA battries is definitly a plus, even though that means a new battery grip.

5) 8.2m compare to 6m on 10D, typically more nosie will be genrated for same sensor size. In this case, have to wait and see.
