Canon 10-22, 17-55 f/2.8 IS, 70-200 f/4 IS and 100 f/2.8 Macro. The last lens will soon be replaced by the upcoming HIS version. Then, my lens collection is complete.

PS: I am proud to say my (currently nearly complete) lens collection has no equivalent in N-land (their 10-24 performs horribly at 10 mm, 17-55 f/2.8 has no VR, no 7-2 f/4 lens and their 105 macro VR does not function at 1:1 magnification) or any other platform. Talk about choosing a system for its lenses instead of the cameras. :bsmilie:

PS2: Just realized that Canon Singapore has released their own sample images taken with the 7D here. But WHERE is the recommended retail price? :bsmilie:

looking at your set up, 10-22 and 17-55 can not go ff, F4 IS is nice but stronger is still F2.8 IS. 100 macro is nice. interesting choice to upgrade it. N-land got no equivalent because you are not comparing the top line items. the 14-24F2.8,24-70 and 70-200 all F2.8 are very nice.
PS: i am in canon.
PS2: lens i am talking about are 35L, 300F2.8IS, 85L....... their price holds well, much better than bodies and they take photos other lens can not even with a great body.

True. I am referring to the lack of decent DX/EFS lenses in N-land.

When it comes to FF, I agree N has the upper hand... for now.

HOWEVER, their recent releases/upgrades are kind of short-sighted (much like their first version of 70-200 f/2.8 VR which was obviously tailored for DX sensors).

a) 14-24 f/2.8 is impressive and all that... BUT its bulbous front element and lack of front threading limit the usefulness of the lens for landscape shooting, and such a lens is obviously designed for landscape photographers. A FX 14-24 f/4 lens with 82 mm front threading will be far more useful.

b) Their latest lenses are impressive only because they contain the new nano-coating which allows lens designers to go wild with their optical design (after flaring issues are subdued).

Note that the new Canon 17mm TSE and 24 f/1.4 Mk2 lenses also spot similar technology and equally impressive optical performance.

Further note that when nanocoating technology is not present, N lenses struggle with optical quality, e.g., DX 10-24. Such a scenario is a far cry from the general belief that N is strong in wide angle lenses. Another myth dispelled. :bsmilie:

c) 24-70 f/2.8 WITHOUT VR? Now, how short-sighted is that? Hasn't N learned anything from their DX 17-55 f/2.8 lens?

Hi, do you know what is the MRP?

In US, Nikon D300s sells for US$1799 and Canon 7D for US$1699.

In Singapore, D300s RRP is S$2999 and street price is $2550.

One can only guess what the 7D street price is for Singapore. :bsmilie:

My guess is about $2500-2600.

I wonder D300s can survive or not? the price and spec (theocratically/on paper) also lose to Canon 7D. Which ever be my first SLR does not really matter, but I my sister is using nikon

hope that Nikon (slightly) larger sensor, less pixel dentisy and 51 point AF can make some miracle
(wondering why D7 can go to ISO 12800)

If your guess is accurate, that will be really nice price.:)

Canon and Nikon should have at least put IS in the body, though lens IS is arguably 'better'. But then again, there is non-IS lens that the body IS is better than nothing. Not sure what will happen to the price though.

Putting IS in the body for both is as good as killing their IS lens market....

in long term run, they do not need to produce 2 kind of lens for the same range... can save some R&D cost.

local set? how much? where to buy?

No. It was the only pre production set locally as of now. I was beta testing the video portion. Watch the video.
