Very cool but it can't replace an articulated screen totally. Each has its own pros and cons. :-)

The articulated screen is still needed when u need to hold ur camera at wierd angles and control the settings. Unless the camera is mounted somewhere, u can't hold ur cam and still fiddle the settings from ur phone at the same time with only 2 hands.

The remote will b especially useful when the camera is mounted a distance away and u like to remotely control it. It'll be useful too if u find ur camera LCD too small and like to view on e larger screen of ur phone.

Should still be ok & useable when right hand holding up the cam high while left hand holding the phone for LV.

the centre AF point of 6D is 'awesome' in a sense that it can focus down to -3EV whereas the 5DMK3 is -2EV, 1DMKV is -1EV and 7D is -0.5EV.
it does not say much about the tracking ability.

There is speculation the 6D may have 6 invisible AF points in the center to aid tracking.

Definitely possible if camera + lens are as light as m43 offerings.... but 6D?....

For uwa glasses attached it is possible to hand hold this way, alternatively a monopod to support the weight if one feels too heavy to hold a 2kg setup for a 10second shot.

The phone app will be very useful for group photos incl the photographer. :)

What you are suggesting is possible I suppose, but a non-starter for me. Also I'm hard pressed to think of a real world scenario where one can only get the shot if this method is used.

the LV capability on the phones obviates the need of an articulate screen which is cool.

Yea..the down side is that u end up draining ur mobile battery and especially the lv on ur mobile+ Wi-Fi...

it is useful for situations, say, in a crowded place, shooting at eye-level shows nothing but heads, so raise up, look at the LV on the phone, focus & shoot, thats it. battery life on both devices takes a toll, but then again, how prolonged will this wireless tethering be on?

Good for extreme worm's eye view too so you don't have to get on your knees and get into weird positions to view LCD or VF

Guys,

it's here! I received a call yesterday from my usual hut that there's only 1 piece in each shop.
Anyone got it? I originally reserved it but backed up because i saw a price drop coming for 5dmk3 which IMHO is still better than the 6d which is a compromise.

Which shop have that?

Canon Singapore has not announced the price of the 6D yet. Curious how much it is going to cost.

2.8k?-3.2?

Every region is different though..uk is going for 1989 pounds

Was told its above 3k at Cathay but he didn't want to say exactly.

The street price of the Nikon D600 is about S$2700. If the 6D is indeed priced above $3k, it's too high IMO.

In US and elsewhere, the 6D and D600 are priced the same. If Canon Singapore charges more than S$3k for the 6D, I shall dump ALL my Canon gear and go elsewhere. As it is, I am in the process of unloading all my Canon APS-C stuff. Stupid Canon selling over-priced, under-performing and poorly featured items and they think they can get away with it?. No wonder they are losing market shares to Nikon right now even as I write this.

However, I believe Cathay Photo is merely quoting the RRP. Nikon D600 RPP is S$3100. Street price is much lower.

The price at Henry's in Canada is C$2,099.99.
