Canon 6D

not sure if anyone feels the same as me...

Nikon: tries to retain as much feature as the D800 on the D600
Canon: tries to remove as much feature from the 5D3 on the 6D

Is 6D an upgrade to 5D2? Frankly I am disappointed with the 6D announcement... was expecting something with huge WOW factor.

If it's cheaper than the D600 it can still be a winner I think!

the thing is how much cheaper.. and how is the AF speed? and the price diff between 5dmk3 ? perhaps it makes more sense for someone to get 5dmk3...

well, i use manual lens.. i saw the good news posted by Anthony abt focus screen ..

Looka at what Andy Westlake said:" The 6D is clearly aimed at tempting APS-C owners to upgrade to full frame, but here Canon has given itself another problem. Its EF-S lenses simply won't fit on the 6D, so users with a decent collection - perhaps the 10-22mm f/3.5-4.5 USM, 15-85mm f/3.5-5.6 IS USM and 60mm f/2.8 Macro USM - will have to buy a new lens set to use with it. At which point the barrier to switching systems becomes rather lower, and the temptation to change brands stronger."

the good, which i see as the Canon advantage always

"On the other hand, let's not forget that Canon's EF lens lineup is very strong indeed, with a large number of reasonably-affordable fast primes to go alongside the workhorse 'L' series zooms, and more-esoteric optics such as the unique MP-E 65mm f/2.5 1-5x Macro.

and the disappointment:

Overall, though, it's difficult to shake the feeling that the EOS 6D simply lacks the 'wow' factor of its main rival. Whereas Nikon seems to have taken the approach of taking away as little as possible from D800 when creating the D600, Canon appears almost to have gone the other way, removing as much as it thinks it can get away with at the price. The result is the kind of conservative, slightly unimaginative design that's become the company's hallmark. It's still bound to be a very good camera, of course; just perhaps not quite as good as it could be.

zzzz

If they are going to compete against the D600, the "wow" factor will lies in the pricing... The rest of the stuffs/features don't look attractive enough..

And if it's going to be priced the same as D600, I think 5d3 is the way to go.. (or probably other brands is the way to go)

Most casual costomers don't care about AF. It's a Canon! ;) Haha, on the other hand I don't care about the brand sticker on the front and I'm a bit disappointed myself.

ya. no dual sd slot, no joystick, 97% VF, 11AFs, less fps and worse ergonomics than 7d/5d mk II. only interested if its really cheap.

Gosh..looks like it's already done..No swivel screen. Boooooo...several scenes can see the guy s posture while shooting the video while trying to look into the lv..like he's gonna break his back..if he had the swivel screen he would just need to stretch his and low down without his body arching like that..that was the purpose of the bloody 6xx role..Damn ****

reckon no swivel cos of the environmental seal?

anyway I'd use an external monitor, much better. Based on individual usages of course.

Well u wouldn't bee seeing people carrying external monitors around just to film it take photos right..Sigh disappointing..guess ill switch platforms now ...

Finally a entry level full frame, for entry level skill people like me :bsmilie:

So correct to say 6D better than 5DII or 5DII still better than 6D? Price wise why I feel 6D is more expensive than 5DII ?

Well if i was old n retired n got loads of cash n time to burn..why not.i can do film photography all over Singapore n would be happy with that set up..but I'm none of the above..Haha..

Yes, really lack wow factor, but I hope the 11 AF points are really quick and snappy, that's fine with me.

Wifi will be a norm in the near future and I can see myself using it for casual shooting...downloading to picasa, fb etc.

Hi ISO better that 5Dmk3....hope so if new sensor design.

On a whole if camera is quick n responsive, I am okay....now the price in SG...ultimate key to its success.

Yeah, I have the feeling just by adding a fully articulated touch screen they could have made a more interesting camera. I was hoping for that and also for a sensor with PDAF like the 650D to make full use of the 40mm STM lens...

Yeh..when i shoot the moon n stuff high or low down the articulated screen saves me from breaking my neck..it's like without it i have to tilt my head parallel to the lv screen which can be 75° up wards..

looks like nikon & canon co-exist to released budget FF cam
