Canon 6D

From the way I looked at it, Canon will launch a better model next year. EOS 6D is just a rush product to counter competition. Just looked at EOS 50D, was it a good upgrade from EOS 40D? EOS 50D was actually a rush product until the launched of EOS 60D and 7D.

its not that canon has no time to develop a better product. all cross type AF points, 1/8000s, higher fps technologies have been around for years. its marketing i think.

Well, low fps did not bother 5D2 shooters, so I cannot see why it should bother anyone using the 6D. Besides, the D600 is only 1 fps faster and also has a 1/4000 shutter limitation.

What really disappointed most people, and rightly pointed out by DPReview, is the fact there is ONLY 1 cross AF point. Even the lowly, entry level 650D gets a 9 cross AF-point sensor. Sigh....

However, given Ralph's enthusiastic response about the AF accuracy of the center point, I am now even more certain I shall replace my 5D3 with the 6D.

I read Ralph's report on the centre AF point and it looks very promising. I wonder if this could be new technology that Canon is developing and will eventually roll out into other future models.

Sigh, even the Pro-Canon DPReview has this to say about Canon's hallmark:

Overall, though, it's difficult to shake the feeling that the EOS 6D simply lacks the 'wow' factor of its main rival. Whereas Nikon seems to have taken the approach of taking away as little as possible from D800 when creating the D600, Canon appears almost to have gone the other way, removing as much as it thinks it can get away with at the price. The result is the kind of conservative, slightly unimaginative design that's become the company's hallmark.

Canon EOS 6D Hands-on Preview: Digital Photography Review
Less is more.

To me is the price factor of 6D...some people might consider taking a cheap full frame with good IQ (hopefully) for general purpose such as walk about, portraits etc. Then couple it with a 7D or hopefully an upcoming 7DII for sports wildlife purpose.

Total cost hopefully is not too far above 5D3... then i might go for the 2 bodies option.

I remembered the 60D and D7000 was priced the same in USD. But in singapore, 60D was about 300-400 cheaper. hehehe pray

Canon will hv to clear their stocks for 5D mk2 and 7D first before they launch it for sale.;)

In US, 5D3 costs ~ US$500 more than the D800. But in Singapore, the D800 is priced ~S$100 MORE than the 5D3.

Since D600 can be had at a street price of S$2900 now, there is a chance the 6D may be available at a price ~S$2600.

I think I shall wait till the official final version is reviewed...
But, as of now, pretty much disappointed with it..

just get the 5Dmk3 and solve all your headache haha. ;)

No point... after 5D mk3, you will say that 1DX has the best features.....
Then you see 650D got sivel LCD, Touch screen, AF HD recording.....
Later, discover 650D too plastic, FPS not as fast as 7D....
Want to buy 7D, too old model.... wait for 7D mk2.....
7D mk2 delay.... regret, buy 60D..... then see got Full frame....
Then feel like changing to 6D...etc

Buy what you need....a lot of camera specs are good to have and not necessary for what we shoot....

Maybe not now....just got my lens recently...

Then the final push is to get a P&S sized FF... due to weight/size

Precisely. I used to think a swivel screen is awesome until I got the 60D and realize my swivel screen is pinned down 99.9% of the time. Then I thought multiple cross hair sensors (like the 7D and 5D3) are useful until I realize I utilize the center AF point 90% of the time. :bsmilie:

The closest will be mirrorless FF like the RX1 (fixed lens) or the upcoming NEX-9/Fujifilm thing.

Then, you find you either need more than 1 lens or you dislike changing lenses.

The circle just goes round and round and round... :bsmilie:

Abit weird carrying around a compact size camera with big lenses.it even normal size..the weight distribution is very off

Maybe it's time to use my Canon's gear again after the last one year I only using my NEX. No, it's not because 6D, but I believed the 5D MkII price will be slashed like crazy (not counted 2nd hand price). To full frame, I will be! (Yoda's style).
