No way... how to look pro with a compact? :bsmilie:

Sometimes i will miz my FZ7 cuz of its light weight ...

lol. Good pics are not restricted to cameras, but the types of good pictures are.

If I can forgo a 600mm f4 L IS USM for a Lumix, I don't see why not. Its easy to use, and there's always PS. =D

Not like that I would use a 600mm f4 anyway. :P

Have never been good with compacts. I prefer more weight...the feel of the camera on your hands. I tend to rush with compacts and often struggle looking through the viewfinder.

I use both ... got a D50 and a Fuji F30 as backup ;p

eh, ain't you supposed to use the big big LCD? :bsmilie:

That's the problem... I never look at the big LCD when I use compacts! Like all cameras, its natural to look through the viewfinder. Old habits die hard... especially after 35 years of practice!!!

why not?

DSLR is not everything. If family needs $ due to emergency, DSLR will be sold.

in my opinion, the compact that i would downgrade to, would be the high zoom (400+mm) prosumer cameras..

this is so because the prosumer got very good quality at such lengths, and can record video !!!! with sound somemore !!! and in a small neat package..somemore the video quality for most of them is pretty decent

there are really really a lot of times when i wished i could switch to video mode using my d70s to shoot video... imagine a mother bird mouthing worms, and the baby birds opening the mouth for the mother to put it inside, and hear the sqwack sqwack sound.... wa kao the feeling is really shiok... sometimes photos really cannot replicate videos.

see how...if FZ50 price drop somemore to perhaps 600+ range, i may get it

I never used my compact when I got my DSLR. I used to think that carrying a big camera is a nuisance but after seeing the results, I never turned back (yet). Maybe in the future when there is a need to go hiking where weight matters I will switch back to compact.

Yep. Already done that !!

Now going back to square one again .....

:bsmilie:

Used to have a R1. Great camera but sold it for D80 & 18-200VR combi. Honestly, if there is an R2 with VR built-in, then I can see myself using the R2 more often than D80 or I would buy R2 instead of D80. The IQ is fantastic and silent mode enables me to get all the stealthy shots without subject knowing.....

There are times I just leave my DSLR at home and shoot with HP instead, but if going on tour, will carry my DSLR with me.

Wan to know this interesting question, how many of you can downgrade urself from dslr to compact camera? :)

Money issue aside, there are times for compact and times for DSLR.

Perhaps you can ask yourself what is your lifestyle and shooting habits ?

Yup...i agree that all the cameras..have its use.

I personally have my DSLR and Compact...and the very-compact(phone) to capture the moment.

Travelling with compacts at times works best and likewise at times DSLR works best. But for quickie....phone's cam works best.

Lifestyle rules. Now that my daughter is growing and demand more time playing, i realised that i have spent less time on my DLSR except weekends where i will make a point to go out shooting my favorite stuff.

So i agree that lifestyle influence the type of photographic tools you use..... happy shooting..
