Yes, I downgraded from DSLR (Oly E-500) to compact (Panasonic FX-07). Why? Travel light lor.

For me, I won't. I believe in every type of camera has its places.
I have DSLR, EVF camera as well as compact camera.
I bring along the camera which I deem most suitable depending on occassions.
To a certain extend, compact just won't give you the option to be creative.

anytime...

when i dun need the dslr and when it gets too bulky and heavy to carry out a monstrosity just to take group pics

ahaha

cheers

After getting used to fast focusing, fast response, fast boot time, fast lens..... a bit hard to downgrade...... unless need money for education (as mentioned by westwest bro), getting married, etc... :)

Yo bro.. when u get married & wanna sell ur gear I gonna be the 1st 1 for the q ok...:bsmilie: :bsmilie:

Besides my Nikon gears, I always carry an extra Fujifilm F30 in my bag. There are occasions when your PnS will come in useful as it is the only means to take photograph of some objects because of access problem.

Hehehe.. I downgraded from D70 to SonyEricsson K800i ;p

I'm about to downgrade my D50 to a 8400 lol so yes, I CAN downgrade from a DSLR to a compact (a big compact i.e. lol)

That's the problem... I never look at the big LCD when I use compacts! Like all cameras, its natural to look through the viewfinder. Old habits die hard... especially after 35 years of practice!!!

most new compact got no more VF lio...oni lcd..:D

thinking of downgrading to a F31D leh.... zzzz....my 30D very attention seeking... making it sometimes very inconvienient....but if downgrade im losing the wide-ness .....dilemma

Get the twin lens PnS from Kodak loor.

i use a compact far more often for day to day shots as it is certainly less conspicuous which allows me to take shots without having everyone staring at me... in such situations, a dSLR simply wouldnt fit the bill....

Well... Practice shooting without looking thru VF. Maybe... need to shoot 10,000 shots to perfect your angle guage...

no way...3 words - NEED FOR SPEED! HAHA..

a olympus xa n rollei 35s considered as a compact?

been using those n my ricoh more than my dslr... but don't bear to let go of my dslr just in case.... hahaha

I've used a Nikon D50 for backpacking trips and I find that it is a hassle to carry it and decided to carry a compact camera for my next trip.

I've been testing and evaluating the Panasonic LX2 but this camera is too sensitive to camera shake compared to the Sony compact that I've used.:thumbsd:

Solution for you. D40 + 18-200VR.

Leica M8. Smaller and lighter but I wouldn't call it a downgrade! :)
