it's a flexible system. you can do it online (email, msn, etc) or meet up for kopi or outing. the discretion is up to the oldie volunteer buddy.

Been quite BZ lately. Dun even hav enuff time to surf all the CS threads.

Those who wan to know more about photojournalism and street portraits can e-mail/MSN/PM me. Though I must say tt I'm still quite a newbie at those areas compared to a lot of others.

Some people in the newbie buddy list i know are really humble people . Thats is all i can see and comment ...

Another thoughts ... rather then having a mass quantity of Buddy helping out , why not select out the better one based on some standards or selection done by some of the more qualify photographers out there ? At the end of the day the goal is to benefit newbie user and also photographers out there who is consistantly seeking to perfect their skills .

If you have noticed, I actually put myself in the newbie list asking to be mentored but Zaren said according to Darren's post, I do not qualified to be a newbie. However, I wanted to be part of this meaningful activity so I ended up here lor. I pai seh actually. :embrass:

From my understanding this buddy system is an exchange of ideas/a friendly FAQ to the Clubsnap. Remember when you were in Pri 1 and you had a Pri 6 'buddy' at lunch time? Even in a teacher-student role the teacher is though usually but not always right. Woe to the teacher to have a student who fails to question and treat his words as gospel. I don't think those in the newbies list expect to find a vastly experienced photographer who has 100% knowledge, can do no wrong, is right all the time, gives 120% effort in teaching, etc... just someone slightly more experienced than themselves should work fine.

Putting some selection standard or any kind is so... Singaporean. Just go with the flow, this is supposed to be an easy-going exchange. There's no need to put pressure on anyone, least of all on those who volunteer their knowledge. You put in a selection standard and lots of 'oldies' are going to volunteer themselves off the list!

For anyone utterly fearful of being mislead, there are textbooks out there which would be more suitable for your education.

in my book, anyone who volunteers to be an oldie buddy meets the criteria.

to be 100% guaranteed certain of expert qualified teachers who will never mislead anyone, i think you have to pay for it lah! come to think of it, i have even been misled by qualified teachers in school before.
