Beginners Outing(Part 19)-Double Helix Bridge and MBS on the 31 July(Photos thread)

These pictures are raw but they show potential. I think you have a natural eye for good pictures. Keep working at it.

Thanks lightbrush for the encouragement. Will continue to practice. As the saying goes: "Practice makes perfect".
Cheers.

Well, i like the use of light flare in #1.. very nicely captured above the flyer.. however, the pic is slightly tilted (noticed ur bridge isnt straight)

For #2 n #3, they are good.. got the potential.. like postcard style.. like what likebrush said.. keep it up  like to see more from you.. excellent control on your exposure n white balance :)

Thanks iszan for the encouragement. Will take note on the tilted bridge and be more careful on horizontal and vertical lines while shooting. Still cannot get my starburst perfect. Will keep practicing.
Cheers.

This is good stuff!
I like the way you compose your shots.

Skylover ...

Nice pics @ #1 & #9!! ...
Woah can see improvement from the pics wor ..
jia you.

Thanks Thanks.. Still got a lot of room for improvement..
I see some composition issues here and there, but I think for a Beginners Outing this is a very good initial step :)

Composition is the hardest to learn, I reckon. Some people have a natural flair for it. I know I don't :bsmilie:
But I've realized that usually, "less is more". And often the most 'confused' shots in terms of composition occur when the photog glances at a scene, spots something interesting, then immediately raises the camera to the eye and takes a snap. Usually these photos get discarded after a short while.

wah... the shots in this set are good!

Hope everybody keeps it up! Once you "master" the basics, you can go on and teach more people.

Thanks for the encouragement. I think the important thing is to build up the foundation first before we step into something else further which i believe you would agree on to.

Hi everyone...

Phew! After a lot of struggle that my lil' mind had to do to learn how to post pics in CS, I am finally able to do so...:-D! Thanks and kudos to Cleonbus and others who came out with the idea and shared their knowledge...happy to meet a lot of lovely people!

Here are a few of the shots that I took...need all yours' comments!

Sir, I am thankful for your comment...it was a pleasure meeting you back to back in two weekends. I am looking forward to our third outing tgether...

This is pretty good. Can revisit and wait for the right opportunity when the people are in the "ideal" position eg colorful clothes, no overlaps etc.

Hi Lightbrush...I hae seen a few of your pics and I must say they are taken at the right moments. Thanks for the encouragement!

Many thanks folks! :)

iszan, your first few photos of the MBS (from across the water at One Fullerton side I presume) has issues with overexposure of the lit areas. The lower deck of the building is very strongly lit by the artificial lighting, and hence when you get the building nicely exposed, the lights are blown. I would recommend either the black card technique (quick n dirty, but gets the job done very fast), or else bracketing a few shots and then digitally blending in PP.

Yes, it was at the Fullerton Bay Hotel area.. Thanks for the pointers, ZCA.. I will attempt to do that next time when I try that out again in the morning.. Definitely prefer the first rather than to spend too much time PP

Lovely shots, Neets. We're very fortunate to have a lovely sky that day.. My pick would be #14.. You brought out the effect like a spacecraft.. whaha.. Keep it up!

Thanks Bro...much delighted I am that you liked 'em. Gotta learn much from you and other photography lovers...especially the nightshots & early morning scenes, where your instincts speak out for themselves!!!
