Photo 7: I kind of like this...but my hand shook abit hence the blurness. Do you think it will be nicer if I crop it as a portrait and cut of the shadows?
Btw left is Iszan, left if the stripped shirt guy ((skylover, I guessed) I am talking abt.

The building Mandarin Oriental is a bit over exposed. If you are shooting in RAW, you may want to reduce the exposure a bit more or that the building does not look like its going to blend in together with the cloud. The building side is a little overexposed to the sunlight.

Alternativly, your shutter speed might want to increase 1 more stop if you encounter such a problem next time.

that's what I thought. I'm not an expert but this is a little bit of tips i learn from the other people around here.

Increase your shutter speed to like 1/100 secs? it might reduce the blurr. I think you can preserve but maybe include the shadow. But the shadow head is been cut off. Same as above, the wall behind is a bit overexposed.

That's all. All comments welcome :)

But overall its quite ok. There's more room for improvement as you shoot you. Now you understand how shutter speed and aperture, ISO, Spot and matrix metering works. Practice more then slowly progress into other areas. To me building up the basic foundation is important. Nobody is perfect

Hi dawngel. Not sure if my comments is welcomed here, but the blur is NOT due to hand shaking.

Hi wildcat, of course your comments are welcome ^^. I think I know what you meant. Is it the focus point is the stairs/the board at the back instead of the 2 person?

I didn't shoot raw for this time.
I will take note of the exposure part.

wildcat, of course your comments are welcomed :) All are welcome.
I think you are right. =p such a silly mistake...>_<
I just checked the image properties.
I was using spot metering for that photo (forgot to change back to evaluative after some trials) and my aperture was F3.2, shutter is 1/200 - that might have caused the over-exposure?
oh and the shadow part..yeah I think it will have looked nicer if I composed it such that all of the shadow is captured.

Er.. Looking at it again, I realized it seem what wildcat mention is right. Its not about the blurr. The focus point is aiming at the background. I find the grass area quite sharp also..

Its ok. If possible take raw so that you can edit.

Lolx.. if you use spot metering, then you need to make sure the point at aim at the person. But in this situation, i recommend using matrix better.
maybe increase it to F8 - f16. Shutter speed range about 200 - 400 range. depending on the situation.

Yes, the telltale sign is the sharper stairs/board at the back, and especially grass instead of the 2 person. Another is that this was shot at full sunlight, even if aperture was set small, the shutter speed would have compensated more than enough, unless it was like, shot from 200mm focal length away, not using VR, and aperture was set really wrong (i.e. very small).

Metering and focusing are two different things. Metering will determine if your picture comes out overexposed/underexposed.

Focusing is divided into a few, like centre focused, or a particular point, or when on auto, the camera will choose it's own focusing points. Even then, you can set it so that it will focus once, or continually focus. Once your autofocus is locked, the camera normally indicates the points it has used for focusing which in my Nikon, it will flash red for a split second.

Yeah, I realized that too after wildcat mention..=p

Hmm..I guessed I didn't pay attention to the focus pt and aperture then, as it was a candid..
Will keep that in mind in future.

Yup, will take note of these details.
