Beginners Outing(Part 19)-Double Helix Bridge and MBS on the 31 July(Photos thread)

iszan, i find the first few pic in the first page from you abit soft lei :embrass:
or is it my comp problem :embrass:

but your firework pic is not soft

just my 2 cents :bsmilie:

Hmm, ok from the looks of it.. yes it looks a bit soft but the actual raw file is sharp clear
Maybe cos i resize it down to 1024x628 then it loses some of its sharpness

National Day is coming.. and it is something to excite about :)

So here's one I took while viewing from the MBS area just now..

Hi Cleonbus,
I know there isn't any NDP rehersal. But I still have my own rehersal in school in the morning, so I will not be able to join you for the HV outing. Sorry! But see you soon ;)

Hi everyone,
I've gone through the pictures posted by all the nice people who joined the outing and I really like all the pictures posted especially the long exposure shots and the fireworks by iszan, and also those by skylover. Beautiful pictures. Below are a few of the shots that I managed to get during the outing. Hope to learn from frank C&C by sifus and senior members.
Cheers.

Well, i like the use of light flare in #1.. very nicely captured above the flyer.. however, the pic is slightly tilted (noticed ur bridge isnt straight)

For #2 n #3, they are good.. got the potential.. like postcard style.. like what likebrush said.. keep it up  like to see more from you.. excellent control on your exposure n white balance :)

Thanks Cleonbus for organizing this nice outing:)

Firstly, nice try.. I tink for #1, you can try to capture more on MBS as your pic (the leading lines) seems to be heading towards it.

For #3, I am trying to figure what is ur composition.. are you focusing on the helix bridge or the sky? not very clear in the case.. care to explain the intent of this shot?

Had a great time at Saturday's outing, meeting new people, discussing equipment and techniques.
I have lots of room for improvement but here are some of mine.
Do comment, cheers! ;)

And thanks Cleonbus for your organising effort, keep the outings coming.

Skylover ...

Nice pics @ #1 & #9!! ...
Woah can see improvement from the pics wor ..
jia you.

wah... the shots in this set are good!

Hope everybody keeps it up! Once you "master" the basics, you can go on and teach more people.

iszan, your first few photos of the MBS (from across the water at One Fullerton side I presume) has issues with overexposure of the lit areas. The lower deck of the building is very strongly lit by the artificial lighting, and hence when you get the building nicely exposed, the lights are blown. I would recommend either the black card technique (quick n dirty, but gets the job done very fast), or else bracketing a few shots and then digitally blending in PP.

I see some composition issues here and there, but I think for a Beginners Outing this is a very good initial step :)

Composition is the hardest to learn, I reckon. Some people have a natural flair for it. I know I don't :bsmilie:
But I've realized that usually, "less is more". And often the most 'confused' shots in terms of composition occur when the photog glances at a scene, spots something interesting, then immediately raises the camera to the eye and takes a snap. Usually these photos get discarded after a short while.
