[ BBBBug ] Olympus 45mm /f1.8

this thread seemed to encourage poisonous thoughts
now i can't even tell who's the "evil" doctor and who's the evil wizard
hehehe

Remember... take 2 teaspoons 3 times a day.. not too much poison in one go : )

After the poison, don't forget your medicine- maybe you need a 25/1.4 too. :)

Then the sweet to make it taste better... the oly 12/f2

WARNING:
This 3 lens compromise each other very well to produce lethal poisons which there is no cure. So never attempt to mix and try all 3 in one shot. :bsmilie:

i mixed the 12/2 and 45/1.8 for a taste and ended up buying both on the same day!

it's very damaging to Vitamin M to get both on the same day.
heck, they are a deadly combi.

Eat vitamin VISA. Sure cure.

I just can't frame as well w/o viewfinder.
Reaction time to getting a shot is also very slow for me without viewfinder.
Furthermore, I think I can MF faster and more accurate with the 24/2.8, 35/2; 43/1.9; 50/1.7, 55/1.8, etc.

Its the camera I wanted in the very first place. (original pan was EPL1 with VF2)
Small, light, EVF, better MF options if I need it.
Extra bump on the grip area is nice and "grippy", but not too jutted out and obtrusive like on the previous G's.
Window in window zoom area for MF, w/o losing view of composition and situation.
High resolution EVF to see better for MF.
Its basically a GF1+

You should try one ;)

I understand what you mean. But I'm still pretty happy w/ GF1 now :) Meet my requirement and I don't care too much about EVF anyway.

Anyone have any picture to compare the bokeh of PL 25/1.4 and Oly 45/1.8 ?

Just hop onto EPL recently and also just bought Oly 9-18mm.

So can't decide which to get now.

beautiful bokeh. looks like this will be my standard walk about lens

I am no expert..
since i have both lens i thought of just doing a simple comparison..
nothing scientific here..
lens were mounted on E-P3..

P9300052.jpg

Lens: 45mm F1.8
taken @ F1.8 ISO200

P9300053.jpg

Lens: PL25mm F1.4
taken @ F1.8 ISO200 (changed lens forgot to change the aperture)

P9300054.jpg

Lens: PL25mm F1.4
taken @ F1.4 ISO200

no lights at home so can't compare the light balls bokeh..
:bsmilie:

can't see the difference between the lens in terms of bokeh leh..
think its due to the set up..
but colors are rendered quite differently here..

personally i prefer the PL25mm F1.4..
not in terms of bokeh but the images produced by the lens..

nice..

went around with this lens today..
was surprised that i feel very comfortable with this focal length..

but my wife hated it..
she said "why everything so big so zoomed in?"..

Bokeh is nice. Though I would comment that the bokeh ball doesn't look round enough, but it's a user preference.

Whats the retail price for the 45mm? Considering getting a second lens for my EPL-1
