Thank you so much fellow bros. U guys r helpful. Appreciated. :)

Usually I like to shoot my own plate of food. For eg. My steak or noodles.

In fact I hv the panny 20mm but upon seeing this lens I'm damn tempted.

Bokeh wise which perform better?

Bro. Don't wait. According to Steven huff, this is one of 3 must have m4/3 lens. The other 2 being 12mm/f2 and 20mm/f1.7. Also damn cheap in sg. In US, selling for USD 399 = SGD 518. Here only 410-450

U guys can be spokesman of Olympus. Poison to the max!

Yah I gave the Panny Leica a miss cos of the size & the price. So that means Oly 45mm is my ultimAte choice.

So to say besides is gd for portraits what else is gd for too?

Then you'll definitely have to stand up to take the photo. Either that or push the plate of food forward. (otherwise cannot 'clear' the minimum focus distance..)

The 45mm is good for street shots too in my opinion.. Having a 12mm is good but for street candids have to go up really close.. 45mm you can shoot from far and sharpness is good. Bokeh is no horse run

As a short telephoto.. It's 90mm eq. Very bright lens for a tele.

For my gh2 , I can use ETC mode and get this up to around 130 mm @ 8 mpx. Great for low light subjects further away. Someone here posted it can be a street lens, but not my cup of tea.

For more poison. Search for Robin Wong and his review of this lens. Great real world shots. Gives you an idea.

for food shots personally prefer the 20mm as you can go closer to the food. magnification pretty similar to 45mm, which u have to be much further, probably stand up even. bokeh or depth of field? u can't really compare bokeh as they are different focal length. but dof wise, 45mm definitely thinner, so u get blurrer background easier. both lens are rather different purpose, the 45mm can be a good portrait lens (because of the blurrer background) and possibly landscape too with it's sharpness. from images seen, 45mm does seems to have pleasing bokeh:)

Dunno if this is OT, but since I'm the TS I guess I can ask. Where to buy the 45mm lens cap? I need a spare. Sure lose the small lens cap. Tried the oly sg site but they say it's out of stock...any dealers carry?

bro wonglp, not yet collect your lens already comparing to 20mm ah. haha! :P

How abt here if you want genuine?
Bought from them before, deliver abt a week, since u haven't lost it, probably ok to wait? slightly more expensive though than oly sg.

this lens cap come with the lens is some how better than kit lens cap ...

Wow... this thread is HOT! very very nice lens indeed... :)

Never thought about owning another m4/3 lens other than the 20 and 14-45, but you guys made me wanna have this one too. But I already got a couple of very nice Pentax 50mm lenses

The reason why this lens is so hot is partly also due to the affordable price.

If its priced similar to the 12mm, then i believe it will not be selling like hotcakes.

Although its made of plastic, it still feels very robust. Not sure if the focus ring is metal or not but certainly feels great.

Now, olympus please remake that 17mm pancake with similar build quality and gets to f1.8 too. :)

First time I held the lens I was doubting the reports of this being a plastic lens. The feel and weight and whole build quality made me think that this was not plastic. It's built that well.
